Today is the 3rd straight day with a sub-40 degree high at Martinsburg. That's the 7th time since 1926 that has happened there, the last time in 2000. (There have only been 11 sub-40 days in Nov since that stretch , and 6 of those were in 2008.) If we don't pop into the warm sector overnight, tomorrow will make 4 in a row. That's happened twice: In 1958, and around the time of the Great Appalachian Storm, in 1950. Thanksgiving would then make 5 in a row, which has never happened. Years with the most for the month were 1951 (8) 2008 (6) and four years with 5 (2000, 1995, 1971, and 1950) We have a shot to tie 2008 for second on that list. It's interesting how "records" bunch and getting past that is often quite difficult. Don't forecast based on climo but think long and hard before forecasting way past it.
