Subtropics
IAD was only 4 degrees warmer today than their lowest average high of the year. Think about how sad that is. Our lowest average high is still almost 10 degrees too warm for snow.

Eskimo Joe
lol they have the snowquester forecast probabilities there. That was old data used for the demo at our meeting yesterday. NWS was pretty straightforward since the day after that storm on being wrong.

EasternUSWX
12Z GFS took a leap toward the Euro. Some snows for the NE now and almost a big coastal at 288. No more torch.
WxUSAF
Yeah, GFS says the 0z Euro's wild Day 9-10 solution might not be so crazy after all. Confirms the look from yesterday that there will probably be a couple really chilly days early next week.
mitchnick
JI, please don't post anything about 180-192 hrs on the 0Z GFS it would just be flurries anyway

usedtobe
Nov Alberta clipper next week? 6z shows a nice vort swinging to our S on the 13th. It's hard to get excited about a clipper that far in advance that is not on the Euro and only has one other member supporting it though most do show a pretty good shot of cold air. NJwinter23
Yeah even though the euro is not as extreme with the cold dump into the east next week, it has it far enough south for the mid-atl...im just skeptical the gfs is correct in dropping 1040mb and the belows all the way to Florida. Seems like this might be a bias of the GFS: From NCEP model Bias Page (http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/mdlbias/biastext.shtml#GFS) ightly ambitious with magnitude of high amplitude patterns North America Cool season so far NCEP WPC Since fall 2002 Prediction of southward progression of cold air over done Model a bit too extreme in temp patterns beyond 84 hours Precip Type Algorithm off of GFS too eager to depict snow
