Wx4cast
Yes I got that, but hmm. I almost think that CAA is weak here. Maybe a little more pronounced out your way where that d-p is steeper, and where the sounding supports some chop. No argument at all. Like I said didn't really eyeball your neck of the woods too close since not my AOR. Proximity to the delta-p couplet will be BIG behind front. Out your way less than for me + you may not be as deep into the dry slot as areas west will.

snowman21
this is a good example of when you could/should go with the short-lived high wind warning or develop a new product Was thinking the same thing this morning. We already have an advisory and warning for wind. The only reason this event doesn't qualify is because it lasts about 10 minutes instead of the requisite three hours or whatever it is now. I just had the line blow through here. Some good gusts, but nothing crazy unless I missed it. Trees still mostly foliated despite the wind gusts. OceanStWx
just double checked...you just need the gust, no time requirement for that It's true, but it gets complicated when you are trying to time the line across the CWA. You end up with a HWW out for a much longer period of time than winds actually last, and the public always interprets it as a bust when trees aren't raining down on their house ahead of or behind that line. You could treat it more short fused, and not issue until it's on your doorstep, but then it's a little more time consuming when you're creating/deleting HWW grids instead of drawing polygons. No real easy way to go about it.

Oh yeah, it's definitely an option as far as regs go. My point was that it's more cumbersome to do it in the grids as opposed to drawing polygons with WarnGen. We might luck out up here, where the line it weak enough and the gradient winds behind the front are what does the damage.
