October 27th-29th Major European Windstorm

Recommended Posts

This has been all over the UK's news over the past few days, an impressively deep SLP of possibly less than 970 mb looks to make landfall in Central/Southern England and bring winds in excess of hurricane force potentially across London and other heavily populated areas in the southern part of the country. Comparisons have been made to the Great Storm of 1987. One thing that will be interesting to see is if a sting jet can become established with this low, which was one of the main things that made the 1987 storm so destructive.
