06z GFS brings down the polar vortex and phases it with a system up the East Coast, brings down some historic cold for next weekend. It has the same idea at the Euro with a big time phasing event just has the location in a different place. Something to monitor going forward as this could be a potential big hitter and the cold that would follow could be some of the coldest air we have seen here in many years.

Before that system there is a very significant clipper that would come through the area, this has been showing up on all the models through that time frame too, so there is some credibility there.

12/26 CPC Day 8+ super GFS ensembles analog composite dates...and what happened around those dates for Indianapolis, in terms of snowfall. All had some snow...with the 1998-12-31, 1994-01-15, and 1982-01-10 dates being the most fun. Just a for fun exercise.

it's crazy and I'm still like a kid on Christmas and the locals look at me like I've lost my mind pretty much.  Gaylord should cross 90" for the season today  and I will break 75".

Enjoy it up there! Been many a year when even TC hit 90+ by Christmas. And that's at Cherry Capital down in the valley so you know the true belts were even higher! I had 3+ feet OTG 8 miles SE of the airport on Christmas Day '95. Was the best sleddin' holiday of my life, bar none. :sled:
