SeVa
0z Euro day 9? Just got back in from over 4 hrs of shoveling. So much for this powder being easy to shovel. Kind of hard to see what's happening on the free Euro maps. Can you elaborate? I don't think we are going to see another snowstorm with temps in the teens for quite a while.
VABILLUPS1
Yeah, I was kind of hoping someone could do that for me but it looks like some sort of storm moving east and off the NC/VA coast with a big high over the midwest near Chicago. 850s look marginal taken verbatim but with that big high maybe an ice threat with snow maybe RIC north. Probably doesn't really matter about the details at this point but something to watch. The 12z GFS and Canadian both take this system well north and west of us so the 0z Euro could be an outlier. 12z Canadian has a big ice threat for most of VA, NC, SC away from the coast on day 9-10. Wow, 4 hours, not so jealous right now. Sweepable snow has its benefits. I haven't seen the Euro but know they are clamoring in the main thread about three opportunities on deck. I think we are rain for two of them but the third might be suppressed and be a VA special. I think temps are closer to borderline so it would be the usual VA heavy moisture content back breaking snow instead of this Colorado stuff. MACoastWx
Storm total was 6-8 in my area (mid-esva) a little less than the 8-10 forecasted. Precip moved out 3-4 hours earlier than RAP showed. Nice event. Even more noteworthy reached 0.7° IMBY this AM. Heard reports in our typical local cold areas down to -4° this AM! Gonna struggle to reach the forecasted 50s this weekend with snowpack. RIC Airport
Low temps, wow!! Norfolk 7 Va Beach 1 Suffolk -4 Chespeake -2 Newport News 1 Hampton 4 Wakefield -6 Man, clear skies, calm winds and snowcover did the trick this morning. Coldest in at least ORF's low was actually 6°F. Very hard to do at that station as a lot of it depends on the wind direction due to its proximity to Chesapeake Bay. Usually a calm and especially a slight SW wind typically is what gets the temp down at the Norfolk airport. A wind in any other direction actually keeps the temperature elevated as it's blowing off of water. Places such as Oceana Naval Air Station always record colder temperatures b/c it's better situated with less water influence.

VABILLUPS1
What's next - a ton of chances over the next couple of weeks. Most will not come through for SE Virginia of course but one or two may in the next couple of weeks. North, west and central VA due for several snow/ice chances, the 1st coming Monday-Tuesday time frame. The GFS is hinting around 2-12 for SE VA and maybe another chance a couple of days later. It ain't over folks.
