Posted October 7, 2013 Share Posted October 7, 2013 If more people in The weather community practiced sound meteorology instead of modelology this result would have been less of a "surprise". This is a common complaint, but I personally am sure that for a given tropical season, a 10 year old who likes weather with full access to model output, and zero access to any other weather information of any kind, would outforecast a PhD meteorologist with full access to every conceivable piece of weather data (satellite, recon, etc.) but no access to the NHC forecast or to model output.
