Akeem the African Dream
yeah ok, you missed perhaps the best most classic thread of all time during Blizz 13, you also missed a classic thread on the May Miller B. Not to mention the coming winter threads, the excellent discussion of previous years, your loss. You totally missed the point. When busy people want information they don't want to sort through bull**** and wishcasting. There needs to be less clutter so accurate information can be obtained quickly. Not everyone has time to read 50+ pages of a circle jerk.

I mean seriously who as a weather geek does not know where and how to find excellent forecast information. Please link me to a thread during the winter that you had to spend excessive time looking for a forecast, otherwise your post is hyperbole and inflammatory. MacChump
I'm not sure how/ why my name keeps coming up. This is a thread for people's opinions on any changes they'd like to see. Let's try to keep it about that and not just bringing up a name or poster that people might be disgruntled/ jealous over as an impartial outsider, this is the crux of the issue imo...folks need to get over their jealousy of blizz... Not worth my time because you still don't get it. There are good forecasts and good information here but it gets buried under a lot of nonsense which is a shame. CT Rain
there are days when i come on the board and none of the banter stuff is bothersome, to me personally. then there are days when it seems like nails on a chalkboard. This... I'm just as guilty of this. I think since we have a place for "banter" we should leave it there. While some of us spend a lot of time on the board... others don't and check it out once or twice a day. I can only imagine what they think when they scroll past a Kevin post (in the tropical thread) about Karen posing a hurricane threat to SNE or some of the other banter in the SNE thread. CT Rain
Can we go back to how it ran 2 years ago? There were no problems and it was informative and fun . It was a great forum then Yet you've driven away posters with your garbage posts and troll posts. What's "great" for you may not be "great" for others. The point is to be more consistent... we need to be in a habit of staying on topic and keeping wx discussion threads science-centric. This way it will be much easier come our first snow threat to have things operate smoothly without having to throw out 5ppds like candy on halloween. CT Rain
Consistent mods who do not fuel the fire when there are problems. Agreed - so shouldn't we deal with issues even when they come up in the offseason? If you guys have any other ideas we'd love to hear them. Just look around. Like I said when it gets down to serious time no better sub forum. You guys should concentrate on bringing the main forum back to being the go to place. Oh I agree about our subforum... it really is fantastic. I don't think you guys have any idea how much moderation goes into those winter threads though. Sometimes there are dozens and dozens of deleted/moved posts. It actually becomes a total pain in the butt moderating those threads.
radarman
Out of random banter among weather lovers arises serendipitous opportunity to discuss past events, forecasting theories, and good memories. While by definition OT, it's a great way to pass the time, learn some history, outside the box ideas, and create new weather lovers and friends. That, as much as the actual forecasting, is what I've enjoyed so much about Eastern and here.

Even with discussion that may be regional centric, we should be able to move them to the main forum and also promote them on the main page. JohnWow is looking for threads to promote on there and if we keep banter/ot out of them we have no problem pushing them(threads).

No one was complaining then boom Bob posts this overbearing over the top stern message. How many reports did you actually get yesterday?

If you guys have any other ideas we'd love to hear them. Should actually deal with them instead of participating in them. You've made hundreds or even thousands of banter posts mostly fun style attacks on blizz. Several moderators foster that environment here. I don't see it as a problem except when the same moderators police the behavior they encourage and participate in.

Please list them here publicly I haven't read the thread and I don't need to read it. Not only did I give them my time but actual science and accurate forecasts last year.
