Lol...I wish. It was autumn of 1965.

I kind of thought so.  I thought you were a little older than me (not that it is a bad thing!).  I wasn't aware that it had snowed on another October 4th.  I know the one I was talking about set all kinds of records.  I just remember the connection with April 28th and how heavy the snow was.

I like radarmans take of a retrogression pattern eventually leading to an additional hemispheric wave. Looking like October after Mid month works is way down to normal than below with November starting cold. October reminds me of July

We should truly enjoy this wx. It is comfortable and beautiful yet the summer sun doesn't "sting" post equinox. Table setting for a winter for the ages.

Not as cool IMHO as the Appalachian snows last year that were enhanced by Sandy. But still...always fun to track the first major snowfall of the season in the lower 48 states!

Of course!   Yeah that was something.

But whenever there is a concurrent winter and tropical signal, it's impressive nonetheless.

An early winter storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds to the Black Hills region tonight through Saturday morning. Snow will develop over northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills tonight. Rain will change to snow over western South Dakota Friday as cold air pushes into the area.  Blizzard conditions will develop Friday morning as north winds increase to 30-50 mph with gusts reaching 70 mph causing blowing snow and near-zero visibilities on the South Dakota plains

The black hills are really cool. Was there earlier this year and they get some awesome WX.

Could never live out there...but I am sure jealous of some of their weather extremes! Isn't that where the record was set for the most rapid rise in temperature ever recorded? Went from some ungodly cold temp of like -20F to +50F in the span of 10-15 minutes. Something I remember geeking out over when perusing the weather/climate section of the Guiness Book of World Records.
