It's just a feeling Brian. Can't put my finger on it

Still mostly good, maybe it is just me being tired and bored with the wx

Nothing to track for a few weeks. Maybe it will get better

Are you going to join Phil in the boring weather toaster bath? Seriously now, hard to remember a more boring stretch, not complaining professionally but am personally. The remarkable similarities to 91/92/93 are kept in my mind meaning 13/14 will rock especially for you.

Why is it so difficult for some to stay on topic? Should we just make this the Banter thread and start a new Weather Discussion Thread? Will, Ryan, and I are trying to reel in this OT, banter nonsense that continues to be an issue in this Forum. This isn't a chat, take it to the Banter thread, OT, FB, Twitter, wherever, just not in the specific weather discussion threads. We have no problem sending people warnings if it continues. Time to step up our game in here and use the appropriate threads.

Yea this was needed great post Bob I am sure the exciting weather discussion about sunny 75/53 is paramount today, way to reign in the troops guys.

He is right though. Why do people get upset when off topic posts are moved to the banter thread or just deleted?

I remember back in the day in like 2007, there would be banter going on...then sometimes it would get out of control (whether it was too many weenie jokes or whatever) and we'd start deleting posts...when that happened, you guys used to joke "oh, the mods are getting serious now, we'd better reign it in"...and ya'll would.

Now it seems all we get is a bunch of b**ching no matter what we do. Usually vague references to this place no longer being fun or somehow being influenced by posters in Maryland or New Jersey for how we moderate...as if there is this secret communication we have with people outside the forum to tell us how to run it. If you are referring to DBM, I never have actually been to the site out of all these years.

This isn't saying we don't have our good qualities. We have a lot of knowledgable hobbyists and also the highest met to member posting ratio in this subforum which is why its packed in the winter. But asking for some help from the members in here to keep the banter in the banter thread isn't asking too much IMHO...and it doesn't have to be some sort of battle everytime as if we are drastically changing the board.

Will it was excessive, untimely and over board. Not like Sandy was bearing down on us and the thread was full of banter. Also hypocrisy reigns because he does it too. I have no idea what your DBM reference is because I don't care or know what that is about. You want sterility, fine. As you have read its not the same, I will leave it at that.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here but this place really isn't as fun as it used to be.  You have to worry about what you're posting and where and if something is posted in the wrong place it creates a stir.  I fully understand, as I'm sure everyone else does that this is a weather forum first, and 99% of the discussion definitely should be weather related.  I'm sure everyone understand we have an OT section, and we have the one banter thread to separate non-weather related discussion from weather discussion.

However, when the weather becomes boring, and the weather has been flat out boring here for quite a while now, everyone just loosens up a bit and perhaps discussions involve a bit more OT than they should but in reality what is the harm of it?  Is it causing anyone trouble?  Is it degrading the integrity of the board?  What is it really doing?  Everyone has said and agreed that at times things do go overboard but at the end of the day, when it comes down to business and something interesting is on the horizon, everyone gets down to business.  Very rarely do you ever see the threads involving something major ever get overly derailed.

Having all these different threads for different topics makes it rather difficult IMO.  While it certainly does create a more organized manner I think it ultimately leads to mass confusion.  You have a thread for like tropics, upcoming pattern, separate threads for each storm threat, monthly weather discussion.  IMO, there should maybe be one to two different threads to include all weather talk instead of just labeling.  When it comes to the weather threads they shouldn't be just labeled for anything specific as the discussion being generated should set the tone for the thread and how the thread is evolving.

Only when people get offended that their post was moved or deleted.

The rules aren't meant for rocket scientists. They are extremely easy to follow and we've been lenient. I guess I just to not understand the argument that you can post whatever you want because you are too lazy to make two clicks to the banter thread or too lazy to keep another window open that has the banter thread in it. I also do not see how a thread titled "October Weather Discussion" is so constricting and specialized either.

he is speaking of flow and ease of transitional conversation. We are not lazy, idiots or trouble making here Will.

People take this stuff way too seriously. Too much time in some folks hands. JMHO

Been there, done that. Now I just focus on active weather times or specific threads/topics of interest. Back in the day I was glued to these boards like a bad addiction...
