CoastalWx
That's gonna be great weather...esp if the setup around D7-8 comes to fruition...we'll have a sfc high to our north with clear skies, but not a cold airmass. 71/45 type days. A powdrefreak diurnal swing special. Yeah it looks awesome. No complaints here. It's boring but fantastic wx. Fuel and electric bills all FTW. ORH_wxman
Huh? Quincy had said euro has dews in mid- upper 60's next week It does for a time ahead of the lakes cutter, but then high pressure builds in..its far out though, liek D7-8.

All the action is out west...what an epic autumn pattern for snowfall out there in the mountains. Just trough after trough digging in. Yellowstone elevations are gonna be buried in feet of snow by Columbus Day.

ORH_wxman
Yeah we were talking about that internally. What an awesome pattern out there. Epic early season snowpack. Snow levels are going to get pretty low too actually. The high plains >3000-4000 feet have two shots at snow....and of course the mountains will get buried. Starting with the one today, there's like 3 or 4 different systems that could hammer them. Ensembles still look good for Siberia in the LR...looks like a lot of uncertainty near AK/EPO region starting near D10 though. That'll be interesting to see how it pans out. Damage In Tolland
The board isn't 50 regular posters anymore like in 2006 or 2007...its much bigger now. Therefore the joking around gets out of hand much faster so we try and accomodate everyone by making a banter thread where it can go on and not derail a wx analysis thread. Its not like people are being told to leave the board...just post in the designated thread. Its not that hard. The board is bigger, so we adjust...Kevin you are all about adjusting to the changes around us, right? I know you preach that. If the board was still a dozen regular SNE posters and 20 regular Mid-Atlantic posters, then we'd still have one main forum with mixed threads. But we aren't like that in 2013. (really post-2007-2008) Yes, the weather is slow and boring right now...but if we are more lenient, then people protest the instant the weather gets interesting claiming that the staff and mods are not consistent with the way they moderate. So it is what it is. Understood but the treatment of all posters should be the same. Mets, weenies or whomever . Currently that is not the case

ORH_wxman
Understood but the treatment of all posters should be the same. Mets, weenies or whomever . Currently that is not the case Repeat offenders have always had a shorter leash...that is the way it is and should be. We try to be as fair as possible...but there's a reason why some posters would get weenie-tagged (back in the day) or 5 ppd faster than others. I think Salt Lake City is expected to get snow, possibly accumulating at least on the benches near 4-5000ft. The Wasatch will pick up another foot or so at those ski areas. powderfreak
Foliage is going quick...been some decent wind gusts today and it's just raining leaves. Amazing how fast it happens, we may be past peak already now with the leaf drop. I think Monday was the real peak. " In the meantime...steepening near-surface lapse rates with sunshine and moderately strong westerly gradient flow will result in westerly winds 10-20 miles per hour and gusts to 25-30 miles per hour through early evening...especially across the northern half of the County Warning Area." Yeah you really only have the ski areas and various questionable snowtel stations. If they start issuing avalanche advisories those are really good sources for snow/precip amounts. Currently that is not the caseHow do you know?I've had some posts deleted lately and don't get my panties in a bunch. You just don't know who is getting deleted...just because people don't mention it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I have absolutely no issue with anyone deleting or moving posts of mine they feel takes away from discussing weather. I don't know why people get all bent out of shape about that...this board is good and honestly most of the stuff they get rid of (including posters) is a worthwhile endeavor if it keeps things moving more smoothly. So it is what it is. Actually our sub forum is less than 50 regular posters and the ones that complain the loudest are not even in our region. The main weather board is void of anything but tropical wishcasting. You guys are making a mountain out of molehill. There is zero weather going on and when it does like Blizz 13 its all business. Seems like you are letting outsiders influence your decision making.
powderfreak
But it aint the same It's better right? It's a weather board and we discuss weather related stuff. The posts that usually disappear are the deliberate posts made to get a reaction out of people...such as outrageous calls for high impact events that have no chance of occurring. Or any other sort of claim made to get a rise out of some people. I don't know what has gotten worse about this place? You can't post you-tube videos in a pinned thread?
