bluewave
Yesterday looks like only the 7th time that JFK made it to 85 degrees in October. But October 2007 still has the record of 90 degrees for the month.
mob1
Well, since YanksFan has been hugging the GFS so tight this week, it had no choice but to cry out more precip in response to the pain. (Morning Joke) Seriously though, we really need some rain up here. Lol, this run has the low east of us which we want. It's a shame though because there'll be some pretty good wind gusts to the east of the low due to the gradient between it and a 1030 high to the east We do need the rain though so nycsnow will have to forfeit this one. IntenseBlizzard2014
The Euro shears out the system to our south, but the remnant moisture streams north along the front next week. Even .50 would be welcome with the dry conditions around Long Island. North32America_msl_132.gif Looks like the shearing isn't as bad as the 12Z run. IsentropicLift
If you want to believe the 00z GGEM it should be pouring here on Tuesday morning... Parts of the NJ shore could see wind gusts to 30-40kts...nothing spectacular but something
IsentropicLift
I think we can make a seperate thread now to discuss the impacts so I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger.
jm1220
For the real heavy rain across more of the region, we want the front to make more progress and force Karen to track east of us. There should be enough moist flow to work with for a few inches of rain in the spots where it's steadiest.

bluewave
You can really see how dry it has been on Long Island when you get out on the Parkways and notice the brown grass the last several months.
SnoSki14
In the 80s again, feels like mid August with the higher dews. It looks to stay in the 80s until Sunday and then we cool off somewhat, though we'll likely warm right back up again for more 80s. The positive departures should be excessive. The chance for more 80s becomes pretty slim by mid October. Maybe a max of 80F, but certainly not in the mid 80s.

The ecm and gfs imply temps in the upper 70s to low 80s by middle end of next week. May see some of the warmer spots exceed the low 80s. We'll see ow much rain we get

Euro and it's ensembles 100% have 80s next week and to be factual, a couple days look as hot or even hotter then today. The past 2 days, the NYC area has set RECORD highs. So this heat is not normal by any stretch. P.S. The euro ensembles keep this record heat around for as far as they run. Through day 15.
