SACRUS
As we progress into November the latest guidance continues to show a warm up between fronts/troughs 10/30 - 11/1/. Beyond there - the ecm and gfs dig a trough into the east with another shot of some chilly air later next weekend. This next shot of cool (11/2 - 11/4 or 5) looks more transient with another trough pushing into the west coast forcing ridging east. We'll see where the 12z guidance takes us but the early part of November looks like it may be a back and forth between cold shots and warmer weather averaging near normal. Temps could reach or exceed 70 next thu or fri, perhaps for Halloween. As far a rain the next shot for meaningful precip would be with the front around 11/1 into next weekend. winterwx21
All vegetable plants in my garden killed last night, except for the brussels sprouts which will be going strong for the next several weeks. winterwx21
Yep very hard freeze last night, it seems more often then not that our growing season ends before nov 1st I don't consider it the complete end of the growing season though. I mentioned I will still have brussels sprouts the next few weeks, but the raspberries are still fine out there as well. The freeze last night wasn't enough to damage them. Most things are finished, but I don't consider it the complete end of the growing season until there are no vegetables or fruits left. There are a few crops that are very hardy and keep going until late November at least.
Isotherm
Very close to peak here now, probably around 70-75% changed. Give it another few days and we'll really "turn the switch" for the final burst of color. Looks like our typical Halloween peak this year.Oaks are still pretty green for the most part, though partially turning. They generally explode around Halloween or Nov 1st-2nd almost like clockwork. Yeah, it wasn't a true hard freeze. Only enough to kill the delicate crops like tomatoes and peppers. I hope to get raspberries and brussels sprouts until late November at least.
