It peaked at 68°, so it was a 29° rise.

Back down to 66° now. It was in the low 70s about 10 miles inland when I was driving through Racine County earlier.

Your place is always lower than Milwaukee's high during the day, even though you're 6 miles inland you've said.  I doubt UHI could account for it, so I can't explain it otherwise.  Perhaps the fact that your low temps are normally lower at this time of year, so it cannot account for the difference during the day.

4 miles inland. I was 39.7° for a low, so not a straight 39.0°. ENW hit 38°. 35° at BUU - I bet they had frost.

This general area seems to be sheltered from any light wind flow at night. I knew it was going to go pretty cold last night when it was 44° already at 1:30am.

I'm far enough from the lake to cool off pretty good at night, but also I am close enough to the lake to really feel the lake breeze.

I hope not...i want to be on the cold side of this storm.  Be awesome to get some flakes!

I'm pumped about winter for once...usually i'm not, but summer was a killer here (dry/hot)..so a change is needed.  This south winds warm October stuff is for the crows.

Alek needs some subzero cold this winter...  here's hoping the Arctic vortex sits over Chicago and spins this winter.

I have to say the next system will come further south and east, but probably not south of this location. Unless we get a change in a teleconnection(s).

Down to 45° this morning. Clear as a bell so far today. Allergies pretty bad for me today.

Edit: 10 day rainfall from WGN.

It was amazing how different of a summer you got compared to us in Michigan. My summer finished right at normal here.

I'm excited for winter, obviously..... I just hope for a more frontloaded winter that the past 2 years.

I agree, a more frontloaded winter compared to the last few would be nice, but that aint saying much considering how pathetic the last few Decembers have been for many of us.

Hit 73 today with full sun.  Grass is growing about as fast as it did back in June and July with the recent rains/humidity/warm temps.  Mowed a little over a week ago and it's already very long.  Can't wait for the first freeze to zap it into dormancy.

There could be some severe action next week with the trough dumping into the region, especially according to the GFS. The Euro has done an about-face and keeps the trough out west, spitting out little waves. It would be nice if the GFS would verify. That would give us something to follow while waiting for the snow to fly.
