The_Global_Warmer
Too hot down there for me. We had a few hot days last month and still finished negative. Doesn't take much to erase positives or negatives from this early in the month You're right. But the Euro and GFS both call for more big departures after the the 2 day cool down. SpartyOn
Sugar maples, aspen and red oaks have exploded in color in the past week. Looks like fall and feels like summer. Can't get any better than this.
cyclone77
There's some splotches of color around here, but for the most part the trees are still pretty green. The farm fields are pretty much all cut though, so that makes it looks very Octoberish. Any crop that remains standing is golden brown, and even yellow in certain bean fields. Geos
70° was the high today. I pretty sure by next week I'll be raking and burning leaves. 50° for a low.
harrisale
Pretty bad cell phone photo but gives you an idea of the leaves around here. Love the deep reds. Would probably have to up my estimate to 40% of trees have some colour. This is Lion's Valley and if you're a golf fan you'll recognize this as Glen Abbey, the site of the Canadian Open. Geos
Nice picture Alex! That's actually pretty close to where the trees are here, with regards to % of individual trees with some colors. Down in the mid 50s, pretty mild out really still.
cyclone77
Pretty decent lightning display for October going on in the southwestern sky late this evening. Feels pretty springlike out there with it being 66/61 at midnight.

Can't get any better than this.Thats actually an interesting statement because its so true. I know the clear cold mornings and warm sunny afternoons last week certainly helped, but even these last few warm days have done nothing to hinder the rapid color change. Its best when you drive the same route every day and notice day to day changes. That said im not a fan of the temps, I prefer the crisp air. Geos
74° today only. RAP was showing thunderstorms across southern WI, but I'm thinking they'll fire closer to the wind shift in northern IL tonight - like the NAM hires shows. Only 0.01" of rain so far today.
