c'mon, we can do this.  Only about 120 miles in 78 hours.   This is where Columbus is to DC, as Chicago is to Columbus :drunk:

actually the non-existent ridge out west is the killjoy here.   If it wasn't for that, we'd probably be able to get better digging and quicker negative

Well, something is brewing. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime we hit -5 this morning and probably will be below zero the next couple of mornings.

well that potential is dead for us...trends back other way now.    On a better note, (assuming you're still looking for snow),   the ggem puts down about 10"+ over the I-70 corridor between the next two clippers.   The euro also shows central OH doing well with both clippers too, but about half the amount of the ggem.

After that it looks like the torch blows in from the sw for a few days.....we may all be ready for a thaw by then.  At least I will be

Sign me up for this and then an early spring! The ggem did real well with the 2 clippers from a couple of weeks ago so we shall see.

Yeah, I'm usually game for winter to continue until the last day of March...nothing more annoying than April snow.  After this winter, I think I might be ready by the beginning of March.

18z GFS also shows about 10" through the next week to 8 days.

I just want us to make it into the top 5 snowiest winters.  We're at #7, moving up another spot after the 2" we just got.

Here is how much we'd need to match the top 6.

#6: 2009-2010: 0.9"

#5: 2002-2003: 3.0"

#4-#3: (Tie) 1977-78 and 1995-96: 6.5"

#2: 1880-1881: 14.8"

#1: 1909-1910: 20.2"

So all we'd need is a March 2008 and we'd be #1! :snowing:

Well, we now have something to root for before the torch comes in. That storm on the 17th looks hefty.

BTW, never in history have we had back to back 40"+ seasons.  The two closest was 1880-81 and 1883-84, 1892-93 and 1894-95 and 2007-08 and 2009-10, but thet were separated by at least one season.  It does seem we have entered a very snowy period since 2007-2008, with 4 of the last 6 seasons having 40" or more.

We moved up another spot with today's snow.  We're now at the 6th snowiest winter, passing 2009-2010.  Only 1.2" to beat #5 on the list, 2002-2003.  Onward and upward, especially with the warm spell looking to only last a few days before winter's return well into March.

maybe we can scrape out a half inch tomorrow/tomorrow evening and crack 50"....very impressive.

by the way...Tuesday is looking a bit more interesting....favored north of I-70 but models have trended south with this over the last several runs.   For shizzles and giggles, the 12z jma dumps about a foot of snow along the I-70 corridor.

For sizzles. I like that.

Just curious, since it was rather quiet among this sub forum.

How much snow did you guys get on Friday, Valentines Day?

We got a surprise thumping here in the Miami Valley - along with snarled traffic and hundreds of accidents.

Heavy snow fell during the afternoon commute, and it wasn't pretty.

The snow was awesome, beautiful, but this time travel around the area was a disaster.

Models I see don't really show much of anything in OH for Monday tuesday. Cleveland .15 snow. .25 slop here. Not really much to watch.

Up to 49.9" now, so almost undoubtedly we'll crack 50.  I think we should easily catch that 1/10" of snow tomorrow.  May even be upwards of an inch.  Models are really waffling around upper level and surface temps.  It will be a mixed bag, but the big question IMO is do surface temps warm above freezing before the precip starts.

I see advisories are not up for counties just north of Franklin Co.

CMH officially cracked 50" today.   So now I'm a bit torn.   For me, it's all about stats moving ahead, I'm really not a big fan of late season snows...(which I consider anything after mid FEB as late season).   That being said, if we could make a run at the biggest ever, which means we still need more than a foot...I'd be all in.  But that seems like a tall order without some sort of late season big dog.   If it's between nickel and diming our way for another 6,7 or 8 inches, OR going into blowtorch mode and calling it a season, I'd choose the latter.   If we do bust the record, I hope it's in the form of one big dog.   The thought of a long drawn out cold season into April where we get 40 degrees and intermittent slushy 1-2"ers that melt the next day, makes me want to open my wrists.

This cold is just depressing after awhile.

yep, this one had potential on some of the earlier model runs, especially the ggem.  But it looks like a slopfest along the CMH corridor, places north might do better.  Oh well, it's the ushering in of the warmth so it really doesn't matter other than stat padding.

Haha 0z gfs puts us on the edge Friday.
