That's what happens when you have those intense precipitation rates combined with a stiff/strong NE flow. You're bound to bust in a good way as the CAD/dynamic cooling will likely be underdone by the models. So I'm not really as surprised as some folks are about Columbus remaining mostly snow.

And yeah, as far as the forecast busts, some folks simply bought into the model solutions a little too hard with this system. Given the relatively weak shortwave and the semi-progressive flow, there was no way this one was coming as far NW as some of the 12z models had it, and there was no way it would be as wet as some of the models had it on the NW side either.

But congrats to the folks who have done well and manage to avoid the mixing issues. I'm still extremely jealous, regardless of how much snow has ended up this season or the past couple of seasons for us in Detroit. :)

Same. Lol. I figured that heavy band. Got between 5-6"

Same here. Some places I measured 5.5", others 6.5" or thereabouts. We had that heavy band of snow move through too during the sleet transition, right when I was measuring it!

We may have to add some interesting sleet totals to the overall storm total.

The heavy banding worried me. Mixing with zr now. Wonder if we go back to snow..

Still sitting at freezing. Have gotten 0.40" of liquid so far and only 0.02" was sleet. Luckily at freezing a lot of the rain is dripping off the trees before freezing because the trees are really starting to droop. Roads are ice sheets on campus. I'm sure it'll all be better by morning.

How much snow before the mix hit? I've seen reports SE of me of 6" +.

Congrats Columbus!

I woke up here and looked out the window here in Cleveland ... not that much and radar looks bleak. Man, did the models blow this storm!

That dry slot going all the way up into NW OH is the killer. Maybe that stuff with the upper level low in IL and IN will pivot your way? Personally, I'm watching the patch in MO.

Been fun as I hadn't seen much reason to post much. Was a fun yet frustrating storm to track. We actually did better last weekend. But I guess it happens. On to the next!

The roads are worse than any other time this winter here. A nice band of frz moved through here a 1/2 hour ago and made the roads that are somewhat plowed skating rinks and the roads that aren't plowed are tough to drive on unless you have 4 wheel drive. Thank goodness for my Jeep. :bike:

At least when the sun comes up all this snow and the thin glaze over everything will be quite pretty.

And imagine if there wasn't any sleet.

I'm not surprised the rates were insane and here in Westerville it still wasn't the most efficient snow for accums....zero fluff factor and definitely a higher ice content, the flakes were definitely grainy.   Had it been a 'drier' snow, I have no doubt we would have hit a foot....looks like between 7 and 8 imby....

looks like that 42.0 is too low, probably another couple inches after CMH updates later today
