HighTechEE
Crickey! I wonder what the rate is? I took a pic, but its blurry, picked up about 2" in the past hour, 2.5 so far since 7pm.
vespasian70
Over to mainly freezing rain here with still a bit of sleet...coming down half decently here. 29/26. Stay safe down that way. I was hoping the ice storm would not happen.
jbcmh81
Nice to know that areas to the south and west are still snow. That bodes very well for Columbus and I-70. Yellow returns over me, but just snow.... very very heavy snow. Probably some of the heaviest I've seen in a while.

WxItalian
Its on now guys! Visibility less than 200ft!!! My neighbors porch light is no longer visible. His house is about 400 to 500ft away. Hvy snow is blowing horizontally to ground. Memories of 78' return

fogbreath
Been pretty steady here - basically an 1" per hour since it started up. My footprints I had put out in the fallen snow about 5 min ago are pretty much covered up now
jbcmh81
0.24" liquid so far at the airport, all within the last 2 hours. So we're seeing greater than 1" per hour and about 2"-4" already.

dilly84
Why are you still looking at model runs. It's nowcast and window time. Always look at the shortrange. Could show trends with the system such as mixing issues later on. Jesus. Gotta talk about something. Lol
vespasian70
Heaviest snow of the evening so far. Rippin' good. I'll have to measure and see how much is out there.

jbcmh81
Yea, I noticed that too. Very dense. I wonder if it's just a function of the very heavy rates and being so close to the mixing line.

vespasian70
I wonder if it's just a function of the very heavy rates and being so close to the mixing line. That's what I'm thinking. Flakes definitely increasing in size.
sojitodd
Has to be close to 3 inches here. Went out to the mailbox to get the mail(forgot earlier)and promptly fell on my butt. It is very weird snow. Sounds like sleet, looks like a heavy fog, but it is a powdery snow on the ground-fluffy and all-and it is VERY slippery too. Just out to the mailbox and back, and head covered in snow. Whatever this stuff is (sneet, slew?) it is better than ice.
Cincy12
The transition from sleet and fzn rain is crazy. Stuff hurts too!

Yeah with such a warm upper atmosphere (almost to freezing ) we are melting the good dendrites into a fine gritty snow.
