Timberline has more snow on a very consistent basis.

And it is quicker to get to than SS. Will be even faster when Cord-H is complete.

All the "typical "tender plants and flowers got zapped by last nights 29.  A clip and clean up the beds weekend.

Loving the sunshine lately, I am becoming a fair weather fan as I get older...

That's a good one. Going to do that.

An old PA Dutch thing is hot pepper vinegar. You simply go with 1 teaspoon of salt per 2 cups of vinegar with as many peppers as you think you can handle, then boil the vinegar for about 2-3 minutes. Put the mixture in a blender and blend until smooth. Might want to open windows when you are doing that. It's simple and great.

I can my peppers similar to WVClimo. I boil a half and half mixture of water and white vinegar, pour over peppers with a teaspoon of salt, and one of sugar. Works great, crisp peppers. Only catch I've learned is can them as soon as you pick them.

I've never tried other seasonings but I'd like to hear about other recipes.

It seems like a 2007-2008 winter is a decent possibility and NYC south will not like that.

O course if we get a good pacific which some have already said will be better than the atlantic this year then we shoulld throw in 1993-94 as a good analog which would at least give NYC a good winter but from philly south we are talking ice of perhaps even just plain rain.

Uh oh...we're toast.

You sure? I thought Snowshoe averaged the most of any of the regional ski resorts at something 180"/year.

I'm certainly up for trying out a place that has as much snow and is easier to get to.

Ill take the extra time and go to snowshoe, I love it, Had a blast last December up there.

Yeah...Snowshoe is a blast, Dave. Haven't been there in a couple years since our group of friends started having kids, but we're thinking about trying to get away for a weekend this year.

One if the best snows we had there was a few years ago - it couldn't have been more than 5* with fluffy moderate upslope. Ended with about 10" in 12 hours or so. That snow seemed so easy.

Thanks! I'll be trying this outside this afternoon with the hot peppers and wvclimo's recipe for the sweets.

Nice Snowshoe pics!

Got a second leg down to 34.1. Put a thermometer in the tomato bed and it is reading a few degrees higher, so it looks like they will live on for another couple of weeks.

Lucky you. I have about 15 lbs of cored and seeded tomatoes in the freezer now, but it kills me to have had over 25 lbs if green tomatoes still on the vine coming into this cold snap.

Oh well...time to tend to the beets, lettuce, spinach, and carrots!

Yeah got Vikes packers tickets before the season. I'm with my son so it's good bonding time. Gophers game...mall of america...bad grandpa...Vikings game...good weekend with the boy. Don't get much time with him now at 16 so I take as much as I can get

Skol! Have fun. It looks unlikely the Vikes will make the playoffs (lol), so these Pack/Bear games are their season.

Back a little early to AmericanWx, ready to follow the winter weather.  My favorite time of year.  I've talked to the fortune tellers, I've read DT, and WxSouth, I've looked at what Wes has to say, what the other AmWx mets have to say and I've even looked at Accucraps winter outlook.  While I appreciate all of the attempts to correlate various events with the outcome of the winter, I accept the fact that 8 weeks out nobody knows what December-February has in store for us yet, and just like every winter in DC, we stand a higher probability of having a below normal winter than an above normal winter as far as snow accumulation.  That being said I'll be watching ENSO, PNA, NAO and all of the various weather models toward the end of November and hoping the low probability outcome can come to fruition this year. For now, I'm going to enjoy the relatively seasonal-mild November and get ready for all the sleepless nights tracking Dec-Feb.

Here's to a mild November and a snowy December-February!
