Avdave
I know we like to jump on TWC nowadays but back when they were The real Weather channel, at least for me certain songs with the local forecasts would remind me of a snowstorm or tropical wx. I can still remember them to this day. Here are a few: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufb4Bhjl8_E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTRqCg4dfhg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HOSM-ap6BI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAdKHg3uZH8 A lot of those were from the great winter of 95-96 back up north. ravensrule
Nice find, it makes me long for the Weather Channel of the olden days.
heavy_wx
I think they played this one non-stop leading up to Hurricane Katrina's landfall.
mattie g
I always thought it was funny when they always played Phish. I will admit, though, that there were a few times in college when I watched TWC waiting for a snowfall in a state in which Phish made a *lot* more sense than they may normally do... das
Great thread. I especially liked Vivaldi's Four Seasons also. They played it a lot during the Blizzard of '96.
Eskimo Joe
Great thread. I especially liked Vivaldi's Four Seasons also. They played it a lot during the Blizzard of '96. TWC needs to jettison their Taylor Swift songs for Local on the 8s and bring back the great music it used to have. It's really a crying shame they cater to the lowest common denominator now when it comes to weather. I recognize John Q. Public doesn't care about vorticity or hearing about the QBO but the has to be some middle ground.

Eskimo Joe
This one is pretty vintage from 1995-1996. Still god-tier local on the 8s for a god tier storm.

I've got a couple of Trammell Starks tunes on my phone and constantly listened to the one on your second link last Feb on my way to SNE to see that blizzard. Made the long train ride more bearable. mattie g
This thread hits home the fact that I get none of my weather information from TV anymore, and that I may have watched about 5-10 minutes of The Weather Channel in the last five years combined. das
the first song on this local forecast will forever remind me of the winter of 95/96 (although this clip is from 12/96) Ha, forgot about the Christmas songs in December. That really brought me back. I wonder if they still do that. I haven't watched TWC in years.
