the SREF shows 4-5 more inches, but I'm not sure how much of that we've already had. Because it's the 21z run, which is 4 pm EST, right? Thus the first 4-5 hours of the run would already be included in our totals. Is that right?

Lol man no need to watch the models anymore. Just enjoy the snow. We still have several hours of snow coming through Alabama that is going to rotate through. Just enjoy man.

Hey guys do you think thundersnow is still a possibility and when we could possibly see and hear it? Id love to hear it for the first time in my life! Still putting it down here. I am rooting for a foot here now!

I wouldn't count on it. It looks like the strongest returns are on their way past. Unless the cell that is crushing Birmingham makes it's way over and doesn't weaken.

Well, it doesn't look like we'll make it to a foot, but 8-10 inches could be the final here.

Don't give up yet! From Robert:

For Alabama, northern Georgia, southern and eastern TN, and western Carolinas tonight....this upper low means business. It is producing extreme snowfall rates right now as it slowly crawls through Birmingham. This will slowly pivot northeast slowly overnight and into the western Carolinas, turning the sleet back over to heavy snow in it's wake. Cities to be affected will be Chattanooga, Rome, Atlanta, Athens, Asheville, Greenville-Spartanburg, Charlotte, and Hickory by morning. The core of the spinning upper low will produce extreme snowfall rates and some convective snow is possible at some point on it's trek.

Hey guys, no exaggeration here, I just went & measured my board & all of them were in between 7.75 & 8"! It is still ripping here. Temp is steady @ 24.9°. At 4 pm I had a hair over a inch, so it has been some stellar rates & I'm guessing this has to be a 12-1 ratio.

That is awesome Don! Man it seemslike it has been ripping since about 4 today. I mean 1-2 maybe 3 incher per hours rates. Like Robert said the best is still in front of us!

Just want an opinion, do you think that low is going to hit us? I can't tell if Robert is saying it's likely, or if it's just a possibility. I'm definitely not banking on it, but those rates would certainly be an awesome thing to witness.

Edit: Would also love Tracker's thoughts.
