Been outside shoveling snow for 1.5 hrs......yes I have my very own Mt St Helens! :snowman: I am here to tell you that band is alive & kicking in N Buncombe. It's not ripping like 85 has but it's def. not flurries either. My average total per NWS guidelines is 3.2". Not a lot of variance in my totals so they shouldn't be skewed like a sref plume. Still can't believe I'm fawning over a 3" snow but that's what 3 years of zilch will do to a fella!......now where is Joe? I need a cocktail!

Can you explain little more about NWS guidelines of measuring? Averaging 3 measurements in a even area right?

Wlos needs to get out of buncombe county more often. They mentioned the blue ridge parkway is closed due to the snow today. Then thy showed a shot at what was the entrance to the parkway at balsam gap. Im not sure if they are over this way very often but from November to may that section of the parkway is almost always closed.

Lol Ya I know. I really wish they could be a little less conservative about the weather and just report it and say hey this is what it might do. They were in Haywood today but seems like Rex Hodge is over this way quite a bit. Wish they would get out into the mountain communities instead of sticking with the towns.

Precip. filling back in on the KMRX radar.  Possible NWF for the higher mtns. but who knows maybe we will get another snow shower in the valley.  Beanskip talking in the main thread about another stream moving northeast, maybe thats where the moisture is coming from.

It is still snowing here lightly. Probably heavier towards home than in town. We picked up an additional half inch from that band earlier. The snow looks like glitter it is so fine and dry.

I really don't pay much attention to WLOS at all since I've arrived back in August. I used to watch WRAL or go online for the news back home, but WLOS is just meh to me to point I don't bother. That's what you'll get for moving to smaller market. I've met Jason Boyer, however, and he's a really friendly person to have a conversation with.

Ya I have met him and his family also. Very nice just wish WLOS would be more gun ho on things.

Very impressive NW Flow snow setting up here across the TN/NC boarder counties. Just walked out and it is snowing moderate to heavily. The mountains are very hazy also. I would not be surprised to see some spots pick up additional 3 inches plus from this branding. Temps are in the single digits also here in town. Going to be a mess in the morning.

Got about another .10" overnight best I can tell. Was snowing lightly when I got up. Thought it might have been from the snow in the trees (which could have helped) but I checked my humidity & it was up over 80%. Cold, blustery am in Weaverville. Current temp is 11° & the wind will slap you in the face.

Nothing more than flurries fell locally last night as that impressive snowband in TN quickly fell apart crossing the Smokies. Between 4 to 5.5" on the ground. The temperature is currently at 0 deg.

Looking ahead at both the GFS/Euro..the thaw begins tomorrow afternoon and continues indefinitely.  Even up at mtn top level-will likely be too warm for any frozen precip through next week although some CAD setups are possible in the normal spots.

With the pending thaw..I hope to be able to make it to the mtn top in about week. Yes-the downhill slide to Spring has begun! Can't say that I'm exactly upset by the prospect!
