Guys I just got back from a venture out side (wife had to go put her horse up.....grrr!) & I tell you what it might not meet the true criteria for blizzard conditions but it is damn close in N Buncombe county tonight! The GSP disco about man & bear last night was very fitting. It was a white knuckle drive for sure. I still think it's a big mistake by GSP not to have us under a WWA but that's thier choice. I'm here to tell you that criteria has been met. Down to 20.4° @ the house with a snotty wind. Took some pics & shot some video that I will post later. In the meantime here is the evening update from the conservative boys in greenville....stay safe out there!

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
AS OF 945 PM EST THURSDAY...LATEST REGIONAL RADAR IMAGERY INDICATES
NWFS EVENT TAKING SHAPE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS AT THIS
TIME. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF ACCUMULATING SNOW HAVE BEEN RECEIVED
ALONG THE TN BORDER. ADDITIONALLY...WINDS ARE ON THE RISE ACROSS
THE REGION AS DEEP COLD ADVECTION ALLOWS FOR MIXING OF STRONG
925-850MB FLOW TO THE SFC. THUS...OBSERVED WINDS ACROSS THE
NORTHERN MOUNTAINS ARE ALREADY IN EXCESS 35-40MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS
AT THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS. IN FACT...A STATION ON GRANDFATHER
MOUNTAIN HAD A RECORDED PEAK GUST OF 71MPH LAST HOUR. AS FOR THE
FORECAST...OPTED NOT TO MAKE ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WITH THIS
UPDATE AS THE EVENT SEEMS TO BE UNFOLDING AS PREDICTED. DID MAKE
THE USUAL TWEAKS TO TEMPERATURES AND DEWPOINTS LEAVING THE REMAINDER
OF THE FORECAST AS IS.

I agree with the bizzard conditions. Sometimes it's actually looks like it's snowing from the ground up.

I'm in single digits at 9.4 degrees with a 30 wind gusting to 45 and 50. Nasty.

Yep WLOS is reporting both lanes of tunnel road closed due to many accidents. Cannot believe no kind of advisory at least.

Impressive SnoJoe. Currently down to 13 degrees with moderate to heavy snow. Don looks like Weaverville wtill getting hammered from a live look from news 13.
