Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
True, but I still don't like the look from short range models if we want big snow. Well... you don't usually trust models this close to event... Euro is the king for medium range, but it's a battle between NAM, GFS, and Euro for shorter range. RGEM has been the King in the short range here for our past few storms.

Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
What is the rgem showing? Mostly snow in the mountains and then looks like snow to sleet in the foothills. A lot like the Euro maybe not quite as cold but close.
WNC_Fort
Some amount of precip on the RGEM relative to the Euro?

Blue_Ridge_Escarpment
Not sure about precip amounts because the maps I see are pretty hard to read.
WxBlue
RGEM has been the King in the short range here for our past few storms. Always forgetting that model. 6z RGEM look REAL sweet, but 12z isn't that bad either although it almost got us not getting snow in northern Asheville. I would be happy between 6z and 12z runs. AirNelson39
Not sure about precip amounts because the maps I see are pretty hard to read. With that track I'd say close to euro in terms of qpf if not more, that's a prime track for mtns and foothills
jacobr57
The RAP actually isn't THAT dry. It gives AVL between .5 inch 1 inch liquid with 1.25 inch amounts in Henderson. Now, I don't think much of that is snow because it seems like much of the precip falls later when temps are warmer.

jacobr57
What does everyone think of how the radar looks in georgia? Is that moving our way or due East? Looks to me like it's starting to fill in over GA and is headed our way.
Hvward
Yeah percip. looks fine to me, the storm is developing so its not like we are worried about if its going to make it here or not. I hate being in those situations.
jacobr57
The SREF is very wet, but also looks warm to me.

WxBlue
Look like we'll start with sleet here in Asheville unless wet-bulb is cold enough to start as snow.

WNC_Fort
YeA I like the returns on the radar a whole lot more now. Only a few more hours boys. Who else is excited and nervous at the same time? I know this snow won't last long on the ground but it may also be our last event
Rainforrest
Steady sleet here

That said, the precipitation is looking good. Not sure about the temps.

SnoJoe
Just went below freezing here (31.4), now all I need is some precip. Returns coming in from the south usually cuts down on amounts this far north. We'll see.
