SnoJoe
I know that if we do get anything, nobody here is aware. Absolutely no chatter about this storm locally. I told a few people about the possibility and they all thought I was crazy. Usually folks around here are pretty well informed. This one has flown under the radar. I know the jury is still out but you have a surprize every now and then.

Especially with ice, if people aren't prepared then impacts will be high.
jacobr57
It looks like the NAM was about .36 inches of front end FZRA followed by 2.2 inches of rain.
Tacoma
WXSouth posted an update saying major snow for the mountains. Not sure if he's just referring to the Boone area, or all of us. robert is saying major snow for all the mtns. including asheville. can't believe the local mets. are surely seeing these models and the trending toward heavy snow and they are still down playing this thing. wow robert says that cold high is going to anchor in during the entire storm. and the core of the storm will be much colder than folks think. Hvward
Someone care to say how the new GFS goes? On my cell tonight. Snowfall maps gave AVL-HVL 4-6 inches, also has winter precip in old fort. May be a little more ice but has you guys in the 4" stripe.
Hvward
I could see Rainforest jackpotting here in this event. I am rooting for you!

jacobr57
I'm sure NWS will hold onto them until morning after Euro run... Yea, that's what I meant by the next update. They hardly ever issue products in between the afternoon and evening discos.

jacobr57
Jason Boyer says .32" of snow .01" of ice That seems very light on QPF based on the recent runs, doesn't it?
WxBlue
Well... "@AccuFrank 13m I think mountains see #snow instead of ice, maybe foothills, too. Either way, big event, heavy wet snow causes trouble, too."
Hvward
That seems very light on QPF based on the recent runs, doesn't it? He ran his in house RPM precip. model and that what it produced. Not to sure what it is seeing, maybe sucking like the rest of the models.
jacobr57
Regardless of the amount of precip, it's good to see more models showing snow instead of ice.
davenc
Special Weather Statement issued for 1" with higher amounts in banding. Says confidence is still low concerning snow totals. Ill take it.

Oh, I thought you were referring to NC for a moment and couldn't find my SWS! haha, Peachtree had a good disco update. They are quite concerned about a potential significant storm, but it's equally likely they'll end up with rain, so they kept totals modest. That said, it is definitely possible you'll end up with quite a bit more.
davenc
You guys in NC should be in great shape with this storm if N GA is talking accumulation already. Good luck all. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

jacobr57
CRUSHED by 00z Euro. Just crushed. Yea, but I feel like quite a bit of that snow would actually be rain/sleet/ice.

WxBlue
Yea, but I feel like quite a bit of that snow would actually be rain/sleet/ice. Obviously that's the case for sure... but the thing is we're getting a lot of frozen precip.
