To early to comment in my opinion. Still a lot if ifs and whens in the future even though it is not that far out. The Track of the system is darn near perfect but no cold air is a big problem.

but can this storm produce its own cold air, plus the snow pack to the north will help.  you know when we had all the cold air we wanted we couldn't buy a good track and now look at a perfect track of a miller A,,,,,, Go Figure! :axe:

Funny seeing all these watches and warnings all around the mountains. The way the front is coming in the mountains actually hurts our chances of getting any wintery weather. The cold air will bleed down the West side of the APPs and then in the plains the cold will really drain down into. Maybe up in Boone may get something but I do not expect much of anything around here.

Yeah, this is a rare set-up for sure.

From what I could see of the Euro, it looked like we were cold enough but the precip was centered to our east. Can anyone verify?

I saw your location and for a moment thought they had made a place special for me to live.  Then I saw it was an "o".  :(

Yeah Euro was way far off last two runs so it looks to be correcting.  I think it could potentially pull NW but that might be the wennie in me talking.  We are still a good ways out but I look for the euro ensemble to be much better in terms of snowfall then it has been since it got the cold air source back.

Snowing pretty hard in Boone, atm.

Here too. Heavy snow for about an hour with light snow now. Schools were dismissed at one but a lot of roads were covered by two. Hope they got the kids home safe. Roads are covered from 19E north.

Sitting at 28.4 and still falling. It went from from rain to snow, no sleet. Didn't really see this coming. Looks like the kids are going to get their 28th snow day tomorrow.

Are the kids going to be in school until July?  Good Lord that is a lot of snow days.

The tourism industry lobbied in NC a few years back to cap the latest school day on the 18 of June and you can't start before the 20th of Aug but they make exceptions for mountain counties. Saturday school and extended hours are how they compensate. I think that's how it goes.

Ya, everything in Boone is snow covered minus the roads. Still a steady light snow falling.

I'm sure the roads got better here once the rates fell off. It was awful warm yesterday.

Lord, please let this snowstorm happen.

I can about guarantee it will snow later this week, in Marion if nowhere else, because I will be in Myrtle Beach working the Big South Basketball Tournament.

Hopefully UNCA get the ticket to NCAA Big Dance...

I need to see a few more run to be sold but this is setting up nicely.  Jason Boyer says rain and mid 50's.  Must not have seen the 12z or 18z GFS, 12z CMC, 12z Euro, 12z Euro Ensemble, or the 12z GFS Ensemble.  This one is going to be fun, we went from awful yesterday to pretty good today.

I like the trends, but are any of the models giving us a nice event yet?

I remember chatting with Jason before the last storm on Facebook and he accused me of trying to pump him up with a scam going on online.... So not a big fan of Jason anymore, I'll take Julie anyday. Yea definite improvements today we still need a couple more runs, looking forward to tonight's runs

The CAD signature is evident on all these.  Along with a low tracking across FL and up the SC/NC coast, I expect now that the models are settling on a solution a nw trend will ensue.  I mean part of meteorology is being able to read what the models aren't laying out there in plain site.  If you just read the precip maps some on here call those practices modelology, and thats why some mets forecast change daily.

yep Jason is way conservative.  no way with what I'm seeing and reading its rain and 50's.  even gsp is 40's and a wintry mix.  for the mtns.  this has a chance to be a big dog and some folks won't even acknowledge that the potential is there.

Don't get me wrong Jason is a great guy, we have had some great weather talks but he tends to miss the big picture sometimes.

I like John on channel 4.  He tells it like it is usually.  when there is potential he will actually say that the potential is there at least.

I agree Jason is a good guy and I guess in his business he has to play it down until there is plenty of models on board showing the same thing.
