HurricaneJosh
Hey, guys! We decided to go for this one. Hey, it could bust, but it's the best opportunity we've seen in a while. Rushing to the airport now to fly to Monterrey-- will meet Jorge (wxmx) there and we'll head down to Tampico tomorrow morning. That's what the team (me, Scott, Adam, and Jorge) think is best. Will update more in a bit!

jconsor
Good luck, Josh! FWIW I think the landfall will be at least 40 miles north of Tampico and probably close to La Pesca. Euro ensemble and UKMET op/ensembles have been suggesting this for several runs. 0Z ECMWF ensemble strike probabilities: 0Z UKMET ensemble strike probabilities:

dan11295
Re: possible Landfall N of Tampico, BRO long range radar and IR shows moisture flow streaming in that direction. Unfortunately the road network is not as good N of Tampico, All you really have is Highway 180.

Srain
Vigorous CDO and well established moisture envelope. I see no reason to worry this evening. Have a safe and successful intercept Josh and Jorge. Let's get the center of Ingrid. Hopefully the BASTARD has the 'bugs' worked out.

phil882
Right now the two biggest observations I'm picking up on is that the storm is moving much quicker and gaining much more latitude than what most of the guidance (sans UKMET) was expecting. We are probably looking at landfall tomorrow night - Monday Morning at this point, which is a good 24 hours earlier than expected a little as 12 hours ago. You might have to get in position pretty quickly tomorrow if the system speeds up further. The problem is more northward movement = running into the ridge which will accelerate its leftward motion (which already seems to be beginning per recon obs)
CoastalWx
I haven't followed the track for Ingrid like most on here, but when going back and looking at the 06z guidance from today...it looks like it targeted the 6z-12z Monday morning time frame. wxmx
0z GFS similar but a little slower and slightly stronger than the 18z run, but not by much. According to it, landfall would be kinda like Jimena, with the first half during the dark and the 2nd half just after dawn.

phil882
The 18z GFS is back to fast... landfall by 12z tomorrow at about the same intensity it was at initialization. It should also be mention its significantly weaker with initialization than it was at 12z. Not sure why.
Scott747
Josh and Jorge are nearing Tampico. Going to check in at the hotel before going out and doing a little 'scouting.'
phil882
Last couple of microwave passes are promising, showing attempts for convection to wrap around the N and W sides of the circulation. This is markedly better organized than this morning, and a sign that the shear is not quite as hostile as earlier.
HurricaneJosh
Hey, all! Jorge and I made it to Tampico! Actually, we're in Altamira, a neighboring town just to the N, and part of "Tampico Metro". As Scott said, we're thinking to do a little scouting now, to check out some fishing villages in the expected landfall zone. We're encouraged by the latest satellite trends. Scott: It's looking like BRO radar may actually give us a little bit of coverage, assuming the center crosses N of ~23N. Can we use it for navigation purposes tomorrow? wxmeddler
Josh, I sent you a PM. The Level 2 data from BRO radar is actually isn't all that bad. It's scanning at 28,000 ft over Barra Del Tordo (85km N of Tampico). It should be accurate within ~5 mi. of the surface COC.
