CT Rain
Now THAT was close Yeah that was crazy loud. Was not terribly close to my house either for how loud it was... About 2-3 seconds between flash and the sonic boom lol

weatherwiz
Yeah that was crazy loud. Was not terribly close to my house either for how loud it was... About 2-3 seconds between flash and the sonic boom lol For that post I made, between the flash and sound was no more than 1-2 seconds after the flash so it probably was close to hear. Actually, as I typed this, there was a bright flash and probably a second after was the sound but it wasn't that loud so that was probably cloud to air as opposed to cloud to ground. weatherwiz
will they send the crowd inside if it gets bad with the lightning. i would think so. I was at Fenway a few years ago for Future's at Fenway and a t'storm came through...everyone hid for cover but I tried to get to the first row on the 1B side to watch...security told me I had to go under the covers, I told him, I love weather and being in storms, this is what I do, he said, well I work here, this is what i do...I said good for you, get out of my way...there was no response. The game ended up[ getting rained out b/c both dugouts flooded.

powderfreak
All of this stuff the past two days in New England pales in comparison to the Boulder/Denver, Colorado flooding... 500+ year flooding event ongoing according to officials. I've never seen a NWS office use the "biblical" term, either, but I guess 8-12" in 24 hours for a place that averages under 1.5" of precip in all of September may qualify: "AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER/BOULDER CO 941 AM MDT THU SEP 12 2013 .UPDATE...MAJOR FLOODING/FLASH FLOODING EVENT UNDERWAY AT THIS TIME WITH BIBLICAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS REPORTED IN MANY AREAS IN/NEAR THE FOOTHILLS." "Witnesses reported a woman emerged from the car and was swept away by the water. A man left the car and tried to reach her and also was overcome, Boulder County Sheriff's Cmdr. Heidi Prentup said. She said the man's body had been recovered, while the woman was missing. Bodies also were found in a collapsed home in Jamestown and on a roadway in Colorado Springs." Have friends there with wife and husband with kids separated and can't get home. Husband is with the kids, wife with the mom. Monsoon flow aloft, stalled front and erly uplsope flow is fun in winter, not fun when you have record high pwats.
Christina311
It's finally here. It just went from nothing to pouring in 10 seconds. Take a look at this: I'm heading to my storm shelter. If I don't make it, good luck to all, it has been fun.

Looked awesome from this point of view. The cell near Epping this morning had prolific lightning. Juiced up atmosphere among other factors so not too surprising.
