Sept 11-12 Wednesday, Thursday Storm Threat

Yeah, I didn't get into anything during 6/1 ( like most in eastern areas, we all smoked cirrus).  8/10 is pretty much the worst lightning I've seen around here "firsthand", it was definitely nasty like I've seen in the south and TX.

Anyway like you said, storms are dying quickly.  Lightning is not frequent at all, now.

8/10/00 is a close one. Maybe in RI it beat 6/1/11, but the strobes in 6/1 were incredible. 8/1/10 is definitely the second best night llightshow event for me.

Which cell gave the lightning just now...NW of you?

Yeah W and NW, when it was a line over Cheshire Cty.  Since split.  There was one nearly constant pulsing towards Hillsborough NH, or N of there.

I'm interested in seeing MHT and ASH obs, the line collapsed with some good gusts.

tons of rain lightning and wind my night is complete

Forcefield in effect here, the storm notched and fizzled around Quabbin so far.  Light drops just starting to fall but thunder and lightning have died out.  The calls for weakening were right on, which I didn't think was a total lock due to elevated instability.

This pretty much went as planned I think as far as possibilities go and timing of weakening. HRRR had a decent handle on it with the earlier runs. Look at what better shear does to storm organization in NH, along with slightly cooler ML temps. With storms, there is not a linear relationship to temps aloft at point A vs point B. It's either all or nothing. Even a difference of 1-2C aloft can mean getting nailed by SVR storms or just anvil rain.

Lost power earlier this eve from storm that toppled a tree onto power line outside my house. Heard a loud wind roar. Better than average lightning and thunder.

Re: Thursday's threat, to me it looks just as good as today's; there is no EML but bulk shear looks to be greater and 12hr Height falls are better than past two days were.

Saw some distant lightning before the storms died out... how's tomorrow looking down this way?

I'm not too impressed. If we somehow clear out the clouds first thing in the morning, I might change my tune. Otherwise I'd probably expect a typical event with just a few widely scattered marginal severe storms.

well I got my outflow through here in Ayer.  Manage to knock 10 off the old miserable monitor.  But unfortunately, it wasn't the curtain stretching house penetration I hoped it would be. So ... now, without A.C. in my main living space, it is a reasonable 75 outside, and torrid 87 in my living room. D'oh.

I know, I know ...  window fans, another A.C.  just not economical for me right now so I pray for -NAOs.

Peace.  I'm ready for f winter!  woof woof

I will say watching Carp hit a grand slam to put the TB Rays on their heels in the top of the tenth was almost ...almost as good as watching the classical collapse and acceleration outflow deliver a modicum of cooler air to my location.
