Ed Lizard
I think the WP-3D Orion flying around 700 mb may have a touch of a low bias on pressures. I don't think ex-Gabrielle is 1008.5 mb, but there seems to be a closed 1011 mb low with incredibly unimpressive winds, maxing out in the teens, around 20ºN and 69.5ºW. Edit- doesn't look like much on visible, may be right on the Western edge of the storms North/Northeast of The DR.
Ed Lizard
Looking at more HDOBs, I think an argument can be made for a 25 knot poorly organized depression, and Gabrielle could briefly get the little red circle back. Sloppy, but closed, and there are surface winds pushing 25 knots East of where I think the center is.

IsentropicLift
Cloud tops have really warmed over the past few hours. Gabby has probably peaked in her comeback. Too bad, would have been amusing if she made it all the way up to Cane status in time to keep the old record safe.

I agree... although there is still some adjustment to be made to get Gabrielle to its real intensity... SFMR from the recon flight is finding near 50 knot SFC winds in the weakest quadrant in rain free air. This is probably a 50-55 knot storm right now, despite the degradation in convection this afternoon.

Would be drop dead funny if Humberto doesn't get cane status but they give Gabrielle cane status at post season reanalysis.

HurricaneJosh
Is this storm still a remnant? No one is updating the thread titles. Humberto as well.
phil882
Yea normally the mods do it when the thread host doesn't uphold his role... but no dice for Gabrielle or Humberto. Of course its a trivial little thing.

Of course its a trivial little thing. But not that trivial. In terms of the tropics, I actually start my morning here, believe it or not-- just to get a feel for the community buzz about each system-- and the thread titles shouldn't be so misleading. It takes a second to update them.
