gravitylover
Wow! Heavier than PDII rates now. Well over a foot and piling up like nobody's business. I'm actually rooting for that dry slot so I can catch up on shoveling. Got lucky, the plow came by and I had time to push the pile across the street before he came back the other way. hawkeye
You can see where it is rain/ice vs snow on the thruway webcams. go down the east side of the bronx & it is just wet. compare that to mahwah nj (note: you need to zoom in on the map to see all the cams) http://www.thruway.ny.gov/travelers/map/index.html?layer=cameras

snywx
Yup - really cranking here Yeah that band looks to be about an hour worth of heavy snow. Could pick up 2-4" in that band. After that looks like we lull till part 2 later on this evening

chietanen
I'm impressed by how powdery the snow is. I was expecting a wetter consistency. It's probably helping our totals.

gravitylover
The flakes are HUGE but this stuff is wet and really heavy. Every time the wind picks up I hear pingers but still insane snowfall rates. Gonna go back out and play with the Toro electric shovel again in a few minutes. I'm tired... edit: Of course as I say that it lightens up Chietanen - Thanks. Looks like one more significant band in a little while then the break. Phew... viking70
11 inches here now. Snow/sleet mix. Looks like we may never have a switch over to rain here before the dry slot comes. I would be happy if we don't have the freezing rain. Winds are picking up.
gravitylover
Haha, I should just shut my mouth. It's dumpin' again. Sleet seems to be over and the wind is back up. I'm doing a dry slot dance

Juliancolton
Looks like that last heavy band is hitting a wall at the BX/W'Chester line. Could mean it's pivoting instead of simply eating up latitude. A good thing by all accounts, unless for some reason you're looking for a dry slot. chietanen
Latest RAP has the dry slot moving in around 5, then the back end deformation zone moving in around 9 or 10 and going to town for a good 4-6 hours, someone may get a foot just from that if they are in the right spot.
