snywx
Tonights guidance have all trended colder for tomorrow nights storm. Should be interesting to watch it unfold. Would not be surprised to see 2-3" on the ground in a few places in Orange & the higher spots of Sussex/Passiac counties by Saturday morning.. NorthShoreWx
It always makes me laugh when folks living on the coast, especially on Long Island attempt to portray that they are in a better spot for snow than us. The only reason it's even a discussion is because they can be jackpotted in a few rare circumstances, such as Boxing Day. The boundary in borderline events seems to be Rt.23 in NJ and I-87 in NY. If you are going to dis the Island, at least get your facts straight. 12/26/2010 jackpot was well west of most of LI. Here, we dryslotted and were lucky to get 12". Besides, it's about quality, not quantity. Our snow is better than yours
snywx
0z GGEM Total Snowfall ( both systems combined) Orange County look to be in the 4-7" range while areas in NWNJ would be in the 3-6" range

IsentropicLift
12z 4k NAM flips Sussex, northern Morris and Western Passaic Counties to snow by 04-05z Saturday. This is quite a bit colder than 06z which never truly changed over those counties. So far 2-3" for Orange County. 1-2" for NW NJ. 3-5" for Sullivan County. IsentropicLift
A little freezing rain to end for NW NJ, then we clear out by 10-11z. If that verifies they need advisories for the next tier of counties down.

I just thought it was a bit low considering next to me in Ulster they are already in a watch with 7+ possible ..Elevations are close in some areas. IsentropicLift
Wouldn't be soo sure.. His area is a complete different animal. I'm familiar with the area. I guess it's not impossible. NAM totals for his county are in the 5-7" range which would put him right on the cusp, but it's the only model showing that much right now. It was good to see it trend colder. snywx
12z NAM is pretty much a warning criteria event up this way now... Hr15 has a warm layer around 700mb but it isn't overly warm and probably can be overcome.
