Looks to be at least a few hours before we mix, at least based on dual pol.  Still can't get over how cold it is out, hovering around 13-14 degrees.  Just measured close to 6" and probably had the heaviest snow of the day while I was outside a few minutes ago.  Hopefully the radar continues to fill in a little bit.

Similar to what i am observing.  Hoping the that radar presentation improves and we get some more organized heavier echoes as the moisture is pushed up against the dome of an arctic high that is keeping us this cold.  There is nowhere for it go but up.   ORH_wxman was commenting on this in the NE obs thread.

Do you have the link for dual pol ? Not easy to find..  Thanks

Have a feeling snow growth isn't as good as it was 2 hrs ago.. Def not snowing like it should be based off radar returns

I'm getting what I would call snow grains mixing in here on the east side of the county. Definitely something going on upstairs now.

Are you sure you guys are getting heavy snow.

I have yet to report it.

Maybe I am missing the bands.

Nothing near heavy snow yet when I look outside.

I never had huge fat flakes, that's for sure. More like fine to medium sized, but it did get heavier here and there, but nothing sustained for too long. Being it's soo cold though, this stuff has stacked up quickly. Roughly 6.5 inches now on the ground.

Btw, sleet being reported just to the south of Stroudsburg Pa now. It's only a matter of time before Pike (my county) and Sussex county start seeing some pingers flying around.

A lot of us are on the threshold so far between that spotty convective-like precip to the south and more fully stratiform snows up north... been pretty meager here, less than .5"/hour. Nothing to suggest we won't shift modes to more banded and steady precip, just hope it doesn't wait too long, as the system is moving right along.

Agree. I have seen no banding or heavy snow.

Sorta of a bummer.

Most impressive aspect of this storm is the cold for me.

I was really hoping for something better.

Best

When I saw how light the intensity of the snow was I thought I might have sleet mixing in even thought it is 16 degrees here.  I agree I think the accumulating snow may come to an end soon but I am happy with my 5-6 inches.

Here's a nice meso disc. Bombogenesis is happening. Sleet may not reach HV. Heavy snow bands to continue overnight.

Mid-level flow is still very much southerly and warm, so our thermal profiles will still probably become sleet-prone toward daybreak. The bigger question I think is whether meaningful precip ends before then.

That said, it's worth noting that the biggest pressure falls are centered under that convective complex off the Delmarva, further N and E than modeled by the RAP and NAM. Could keep us colder than expected as has been suggested.
