1st cool day of fall on the ridge line. Max temp 59.

Deer are running hard (had 2 bucks & 5 females in the yard this morning)with the bears active(saw 2 yesterday asking for doughnuts).

Current temp 48F.

Winter looks to be cold and snowy according to the locals.

Summer ended near the end of July. I only took one dip in the lake in August.

Tree color will be near peak in 2 weeks.

Best,

Matt

Color about to peak here... This weekend is probably going to be the best one up here for fall color

I would call it near peak. When you get into the higher locations with a view, still lots of green with decent color.

Wonder how the past 7 days with the heat affect the color.'I would guess peak occurs week 3 in October.

rain yesterday and overnight took down a decent amount of leaf in my backyard. Bears and deer are super active too.

Getting ready to fire up the grill and have some cold beers.

high today 77 F

Current temp 73F

Best,

Matt

Well this weather today is really gonna screw up what was about to be a killer peak color episode  :underthewx:   It's just wet, windy and generally nasty out there and the best colored leaves are coming down.  On the plus side, mt biking has been awesome but was getting dusty yesterday and this rain will reinvigorate the incredible soil conditions we've had for the last month and a half

The trouble with determining "peak" colors is that everyone has their own idea of what peak is.  I've logged over the years that its trypically around the third week of October here as well, but thats my definition of peak :P

Foliage network uses the objective standard for that reason:

Low color: 10-30% changed

Moderate color: 30-60% changed

High color: 60-80% changed

Peak color: > 80% changed

I use that site all the time and forgot that they break it out specifically.  The latest report looks to be accurate for around here:
