September weather discussion

Maybe more towards mid-October. Other than that ridging pattern we get that gives us a heat up and a few transient fropas, upper atmospheric flow looks rather stale. I hate rain in the fall though because it drops leaves prematurely and nothing is worse than wet, damp leaves.

With ridging just off to our east, that could allow for fronts, especially those weak fronts, to stall just to our west and that would allow for moisture to just work up the coast and wherever the axis of stronger lift/forcing setup is where we'd have to watch for the heavier axis of rainfall.  i hate the wind in the fall...nothing is worse then walking through wind and it blowing your hood off and impeding your walking.  highly annoying.

I agree with Ryan that it is something to watch anyways. Models do try to hint at the possibility of moisture getting entrained into the trough late next weekend.

I could sort of see a ragged looking high end TS/low end Hurricane barreling through Florida on Friday and bringing some moisture up the coast?

We'll see... something to watch after another few days of painfully boring wx.

Environment doesn't look great but it seems like it could pull off one of those October surprises as the trough digs and you get an area of strong divergence over the storm helping deepen it even in the presence of moderate wind shear.

better get its act together in the Caribbean other wise you end up with another naked circulation ie Euro

That's not really what the Euro shows... it has a huge mass of convection with a fairly broad circulation over Florida.

Again... nothing terribly exciting but something to watch.

You're seeing it upside down?  That's weird--it's rightside up for me.

I'm curious to see your take on the 'first inch' poll.

Started foogy here but sunny now.  Downtown Greenfield is still pea soup.

Are you seeing epic numbers of wooly caterpillars this year?

They are everywhere down here.  Means a big, big winter incoming right Jerry?

I'm sad to admit that I've found 3 this year and all of them had 4 black segments in the front, 5 brown in the middle, and 3 black on the behind. I know the legend is the less brown, the harsher the winter, but I don't know how the segments break down. I'm not surprised that yours are mostly black though. ;)
