I have a thermometer a 1/2 mile in the woods of Union online.  It may have solar issues during the day but at least it's online.

Yeah, it's really not that hard to get online... not sure why Kevin can't figure it out, lol.

Nice to see the Union readings up again, always enjoy seeing how cold it can get there.

Would something like this help?

You just plug your weather station in and connect it to your Internet connection.  No computer needed.  I remember trying to help you at some point and it had something to do with the cable, if I recall.

Down to 43° right now.  They usually drop pretty rapidly to start the night and then level off but it'll probably be low to mid 30s by morning if the winds stay fairly low like they have been for the last hour.

Long story short - It was fairly complicated getting it running but I wanted something out there.  I hooked a highly directional antenna to a router at the base of the hill 200' from the landowners house where they have Internet access and then put a similar antenna in the woods to pickup the signal.  That's powered off a deep cycle battery that's charged by a solar panel and converted to power a router and wireless thermometer in the woods.  That's just a simple probe that uploads the temp to a service and I pick it up from there and send it off to CWOP.

Warmanister nightmare

The pattern changed on a dime after the big heat mid-July; NYC only had 1 90-degree day in August, and September has had several notable cold shots interspersed with periods of warmth. Those two days in the middle of September's second week were particularly hot, with a high of 96F here in the City, but it passed rather quickly. The last few nights have all been in the 45-50F range, which is impressive given the poor radiating conditions in NYC and its suburbs as well as how early it is in the year. I think early-mid October is a transition period with some warmth, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the CONUS much colder overall in October than September as the +EPO weakens and Pacific ridging takes hold with the warm North Pacific SSTs and the gradual warming of ENSO.

Down to 45° here and 41° over in Union with calm winds.  Should easily beat the forecast low of 37°.  We'll see by morning and if having no frost advisory in NE CT made sense.

Wow, Union really is cold... it's currently down to -1.0 °F  :o

Temperature: -1.0 °F http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KCTSTAFF3

lol...that means that the sensor dropped off line.  It does that some times.  It's currently reading 35° over there.

It's 37° here.  Looks like lots of mid-upper 30s across the region and near 40 on the hill tops.
