any barrier island near a population center is going to be developed for summer tourism... look at fire island, ocean city, etc

You guys never had a reason to build seawalls or homes on stilts. Now you do. I've been there. It's actually very nice, but you have homes just above sea level protected by an ant hill of sand. I even thought to myself how bad it would be if a storm ever hit them.

But, nobody wants those eye sores, so you roll the dice. The price of living by the water.

euro would suggest there's a shot at frozen precip for the mountains of Maine tomorrow. There's a solid cold pocket that rotates through and some precip showing up.

I'd believe it...we picked up almost a half inch of clear glaze from freezing rain last night and this morning. If only there was some deeper lift to punch up into the snow growth zone I'd be making snowmen on the picnic tables here near 4kft, lol....it's all low level stuff forming at like H85 or H8, so no ice crystals in the marginal temps.

If that stuff in Maine can tap deeper into the cold and form some crystals, maybe some flakes will be flying.

Tale of two New Englands today... Cold, raw, cloudy, damp under the persistent cyclonic flow to the north, while it looks beautiful but still nipply to the south.

Looks like North of I-89 is the dividing line in VT.  Pardon for the pun...Maybe that explains the batty weather as we head closer to Oct.
