It's not often you see the coast/islands be among the coldest spots in SNE.  MVY's 33° and FOK's (on Long Island) 34° stand out.

yeah last night was the perfect set-up for it. at the 10pm obs...i think MVY might have been the coldest asos/awos in the lower 48. i searched around and couldn't find anything colder.well...there very well could have been one, but i couldn't find it.

did you dump bleach as you went or do you just want the grass to be knee high by mid-october?

I leave it high for the winter so I can measure like Kevin. Besides the ongoing drought is slowing growth. I did notice yesterday all crab grass is gone. Seriously though I do leave it high for the winter just hoping the last mowing is the mulching of leaves.

never ending storm on the GFS...reaches the coast on monday...is still there spinning east of Hatteras a week later.

Given its location near the gulf stream, wouldn't this be a subtropical/tropical type storm? I'm curious to see what the Euro shows as it could be a problem if it were to climb further north before essentially crawling and even doing a loop.

maybe if it sat there for days and spun like that west of bermuda it could gradually acquire some sub-tropical / tropical characteristics but initially it is born from mid-latitude processes / energy.

looks kind of meh if it was further up the coast it would be a different story I guess its something to watch though

I don't understand how anyone in Boston can think its dry. For goodness sakes, it rained a few times since the summer solstice!

It has been abnormally dry Jerry. Especially just S of you. Here are the 7/14/30 day departures.

I have a flood in all areas around me Bob.

Psst....if you've read my posts earlier in this thread I stated it was dry. Beautiful day here in DC today...about the same temps as sne.
