One thing I will take out of the severe discussion thread is to remember come winter when Scooter and Ryan bust my chops about getting excited about upslope and NNE snowstorms, I will point out the severe thread from this week when they totally weenied out on soundings and severe 200- 300 miles from their houses. LOL

Is it coincidence that today September 11 had the 2nd highest temp of the month for BDL? (99° in 1983)

And As it stands now at 95° its tied for the 4th warmest for September on record. If the actual high of the day goes to 96° they will be tied for 3rd warmest!

BDL's monthly mean through today is 67.5 which is tied for 47th warmest through the first 11 days of September. If you take the 67.5 and put it up against full-month means it would come in at 10th warmest, but it doesn't make sense to do that since you're comparing this month with 11 days versus the other 108 Septembers in BDL's historical record which have 30 days figured into their averages. September is variable temperature-wise where 90 degrees and frost in the same month is normal at BDL, so making a partial month comparison to full months becomes an even more biased exercise.

wow.  Incredible, what a day.  Anyone want to fathom a guess what the return period is for this heat+humidity this late in the year?  The 99 at BDL on 9/11/83 had a dews in the low to mid 60s.   Up here we shattered the highest heat index on our weather station.  This is like the April Fools/Octobomb of heat.

I'm sure Metherb will say he only hit 88..but it sure hit 90 here.  My dew high was 78.

Currently 82.4/77

It is what it is...the benefit of blocking the earth blocking the sun instead of baking on a hilltop.  There were several stations in the NE Hills that were in the upper 80s.  Some 90s too to be sure.  My record high for September is 93° in 1989 & 1993 so it does get that hot here, just not today.

The record low high for today is 70°, the second latest low that high.

Ginxys a. Frigidaire through and through. Today was the hottest mid September day around here in decades I think. Ironically the 9/11 record of 99 set 30 years ago seems untouchable. 11pm and 81 near the autumnal equinox. For this area, the heat was serious and mid summer like. We may have missed 100 in July but 97 on 9/11 is smokin hot.

Ensembles have what appears to be a raging positive EPO next week mid week and beyond. Wile I'm sure were done with this level of heat I think ac will be needed. I'm heading to DC Wednesday through Friday...could be pretty warm there.
