ORH_wxman
I suspect it will be like any other winter. The euro will win most of the battles and kick arse in the H5 scores, but the few times it loses on a storm weenies will say it isn't as good as it used to be. +1 Hear it every year...then some start to trust the GFS only to see the Euro school it the next 3 or 4 storms. powderfreak
MWN awaiting its first snowflakes... freezing rain and sleet so far. "The mercury has fallen below freezing once again, bringing a return of icing conditions this afternoon. In addition, we have received on-and-off freezing rain and ice pellets (sleet) in the last hour. Will we see our first flakes of the season this afternoon?" Hopefully we can put that to bed in the couple of years and have an American model that is equally as good or better and free to use. I know this is OT but I wonder why we can't get a bunch of the wx companies that benefit from the data chip in to help offset the costs instead of waiting for tax payer dollars. You'd think that they'd want to have something to be proud of being American companies and all. </rant>

CoastalWx
Will you be sharing with the rest of the class? Just has these two cold cutoffs that give us a very chilly rain, one on Sunday and then another the following Tuesday. The one on Sunday might be sprinkles, but reminded me more and more of the season we are approaching.

CT Rain
Take a look at this on radar today. See those echoes on Long Island and Connecticut... almost lined up parallel to one another. They're not-met echoes (very low CC) so I assume dust/insects/etc but I wonder what's making the echoes line up like that. Almost like cloud streets with no clouds? powderfreak
Chilly day, first daytime high in the 50s for me (59F at home, though MVL hit 60F) and now 57F. A nice low launch point for tonight's frost advisory...dews are upper 30s though, so not sure how low we get. I could see only 38F or 39F happening more than 32-36F. powderfreak
What's crazy is that Tuesday night's forecast low/minimum temperature is higher than today's maximum temperature.

That may be exactly what that is ... Rad is quite sensitive; it can be tuned up considerably and pick up air density/continuity changes, whether by particle density or air its self. It's why we can sometimes see seabreeze boundaries pushing west across eastern sections. There's still up-down restoring motions in the atmosphere in the absence of clouds and given to the gradient, those will tend to form wave patterns in the atmosphere -- we just weren't in a saturable column at the time. Radiative transfer off metalic surfaces is remarkably efficient with clear/calm/dry air. I think if you decouple tonight it should be frosty in the favorables. Quite the short duration turn around. Pretty interesting chunk of EML air is broken off and whisked through here, mid week. Then the trough next week... Still looks like an extended period of less meridional flow may set up for mid month. That would put an end to the glancing cool shots pattern for a while. CapturedNature
49/44 I'm 51/41. Temp is about on par with the other night when my low was 41 but my current db is about 5° lower so I might be able to get a couple of degrees cooler by morning. We'll see. Yeah I think we'll see a number of U30s tomorrow in the outlying areas. We just had the typical dew point spike after sunset now... dew points should slowly drop after midnight. powderfreak
Currently 43F at 1030pm...some of the colder hollows around here are showing 40F already. Colder pace than last week's cold shot. Woodstoves smoking and smells/feels like the cold season is here. SLK is already frosting at 36F, lol. What am icebox.
