Brian5671
Light events in marginal temps tend to not stick regardless when. But low sun periods might allow temps to be 3-4 colder which makes a big difference. Intensity typically determines accumulations more than any other factor. Good point. Tropopause_Fold
i think tonight actually has a good chance to be colder than last night...or at least get close...especially E areas. wind shift is still well to the west and the air is actually drier. this is an ideal set-up for a quick evening temp drop. This is the type of setup where like ORE or OWD has a low tomorrow of 42F but it occurred at 1:30am and then rose. But yeah, dews in the mid 30s and still over the surface rdige will make this evening plummet. Probably a lot of 40s shortly after sundown in the rad spots. Yep...everytime I remember MVY being ridiculously frigid I always think of the night before Jan 2005 blizzard. They were like -10F. I do like these cold evenings though heading into autumn...maybe not every single night in September as its still nice to be out later in summer clothes, but enough nights to remind you its getting closer to winter. It all of the sudden feels very cold once the sun sets and you smell the fireplace smoke...baseball playoff race and NFL starting...probably about as excited as I can get for weather in September barring the big TC. Typhoon Tip
Holy whiplash on the Euro next week! D5 it has 850s supporting mid 90's heat, then 3 days later it's in the 50s in NNE and possibly drizzly and chilly with a weak coastal down here. I believe it's over amped with that pattern ... just sayin'

We had our windows open but I did shut off the window fans. I did keep the attic fans going to keep it chilly up there. Great night for sleeping. I expect tonight to be a repeat in that category though a tad warmer.

tamarack
nah, the perfect night to do a complete exchange of air, dry even the most remote corner from your summer long siege of dews. That was last month around here. We shut ours last evening before the temp dropped enough to kick on the furnace (thermostat's set at about 58.) No need to waste oil, or the solid fuel that supplies most of our heat.

CapturedNature
62 at mine I have a 1910 house with no insulation. I also had fans still going in the attic so that may have helped. Either way, great sleeping weather! It feels good on my bald head.

Try driving about 9 hours north from you - you'll find a new level of being on the edge. I saw a few months ago that you can drive all the way up to James Bay, 950 miles north of here. I've been working on convincing the wife that this is a vacation worth taking next summer. She's skeptical. "But you can say you drove to the Arctic Ocean!" isn't working.
