Geos
Don't like the mention of possible asbestos at the site! Looks like it has seen one too many winters.
huronicane
More than likely, the asbestos would be in glue holding down vinyl tiles, and maybe in the drywall. Don't disturb it and you've got no problems.
TimChgo9
Wow... That would be a "fixer-upper" using the term loosely, of course.....
mjwise
When was the last time there was a weather forecast office in SSM?
MidwestChaser
When was the last time there was a weather forecast office in SSM? Late 1990s I think.
daddylonglegs
They started the bidding way too high... I could see if it sat on a lot of property, but .44 acre just isn't cutting it. A lot of floor space, but the exterior looks horrible. They don't have trees in SSM? I'd rip out anything with value (windows/doors/etc) and bulldoze it. huronicane
It's right next to the SSM airport, so there can't be a lot of potential air hazards in the area. That would explain the lack of trees.

Hoar_Frost
Just saw this. My dad grew up in the Soo; my grandparents lived there until the middle 1990's, when they retired to the Keweenaw Peninsula. So, I've definitely been to the Soo a good many times. I was interested in the weather at a young age, so I was shown this building when I was a young lad. The derelict nature of the building fits right in with the rest of the town -- very run down and quite impoverished. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, is another great example of how the American counterpart to a Canadian sister city is almost always more run down.
