The official September Banter thread

To be honest, I hardly ever have issues with stuff that Kevin posts (or others) in most threads as long as we maintain the serious threads during times when warranted (i.e. region wide storms, etc.).  It's easy enough to scroll past things and disregard stuff that I don't really care to read.  Most of the time it doesn't matter, as it makes for a lively place to be.

I have yet been to a Forum where the content within the sub-forums remains completely serious.  For a forum to operate that way would be boring as all hell.  Every forum has some regulars that contribute more than most.  Some enjoy the posts, some don't, some don't care.  It's just the nature of this type of format.  Of course moderators can do what they want to curb certain posts, and comments, but again, there's only so much they can do before they look like super cops, pissing off others in the community - i.e. throwing down the ban hammer.  Haphazardly banning folks because of a few people not liking an individual is one thing, but banning due to personal attacks is something else.  The same is true for moderator's use of power to delete comments/ threads.

I am sure if the ultra-serious weather only folks wanted to they could maintain an exclusive site for such discussion, keeping most of us hacks out of their realm.

I agree for the most part, but we've had discussion threads littered with dozens of worthless youtube links and pictures which take forever to scroll through.  I don't mind a little personally, but it's been excessive lately

I haven't seen the youtube stuff lately.

I'm guilty of throwing up photo here and there when a snow storm doesn't pan out as hoped.

That's fine.   And it's funny and relevant.   If it's done in the right way it's fine.   Right before I started this banter thread there was all sorts of garbage and OT stuff in the discussion thread.   Granted it's been slow, but you could barely tell it was a weather thread at times...

Well I never thought I would, but Kevin is right. I've turned into a lawn Nazi. I just sat there drinking a beer...admiring the grass getting greener.

Yup..once you become a homeowner you start to take pride in your lawn and it turns into spending time on it to make it look nice. And then you want to have the best in the hood..It's kind of like shoveling snow. After you shape the banks..you go inside and stare out the window at them

There is no competition or anything and I'm far from the best yard. I think since the previous owners didn't do much, I'm just happy to see it look better. Landscaping is also an issue.

Brutal 15 mile foot pain run this morning..Went to Drs yesterday..waste of time

Dude,

Are you sure you don't have some type of more serious, long term injury? I know you don't want to hear this, but maybe you shouldn't run NYC, and get into therapy.  Seems things haven't been the same with you running since PVD.

But the NYC marathon will likely mean you'll do little or no running all winter. Find a therapist for the foot and don't run on roads after NYC till its healed. Otherwise getting up to look out the window at heavy snow in the middle of the night will be painful.

I had that.  Got two cortisone shots.  Worked like a charm.  Now, still do stretching exercises to keep it from coming back.  VERY painful!!!

Take care of that, Kev.
