Per Raleigh a.m. discussion:

EXPECT ANY LIGHT RAIN IN THE WRN PIEDMONT TO HOLD

OFF UNTIL AFTER 4 PM WITH THE LOW LEVELS REMAINING FAIRLY DRY

THROUGH THAT TIME... ALTHOUGH PATCHY LIGHT SPRINKLES MAY OCCUR IN

THE LATE AFTERNOON.

However looking at radar appears Triad will see a couple hours of rain here this a.m., unless this turns out to be virga which it very well could. Need some more rain so it's obvious I'm rooting against the ole forecast office .

It's not virga.  I picked up 0.05 inches of rain when it passed over Hickory.  Not exactly a gullywasher, but any and all rain is welcome.

Up to 2.8" of rain have fallen this morning in the mountains of Jackson County, NC. with more heavy showers passing through.

http://water.weather.gov/afws/county.php?state=NC&county=099

For the year..rain totals in the county are generally between 50 to 100"+ depending on elevation or how close to the Escarpment located near the Southern border.

Attached is the latest storm total rainfall product which outlines the general area of where the heaviest rain fell. (Not accounting for radar beam blockage effects etc.) The strip of heavy rain depicted on the map actually extended all the way Southward to Clay where 3" of rain reported.

Impressive rainfall for just a couple of Counties. Been enjoying beautiful weather for the most part here at the beach though!

I'm sooo jealous   :P

High of 80 today with a nice breeze :)

Thats not to bad for central SC in the end of Sept.  It was cool to watch the temp difference at the bottom of the mountain on 421 today sitting at 77 and got to the top past the Blowing Rock Attraction and it dropped to 66*. Love that elevation difference :)

Alot more clouds than sun today. Kept the temps down. 65 imby 68 in town. Dont look like we shall hit 70 today. But if the clouds clear tonight then the 40s shouldn't be hard to reach. If it does will be the 3rd straight night in the 40s.

Won't take long for the leafs to be changing rapidly around here if this cool pattern keeps up.

The smallest of the small to some medium size. Some of the smallest are already bare. Its hard to put a percentage on it... but around 90 of the main canopy is still green.  My early indicator on my ride home is solid orange. So it may take a good solid 2-3 weeks before things kick into high gear reaching peak or near peak the way things are going this year. Chances are probably be all bare by halloween.
