hawkeye_wx
It has definitely been warmer here recently than in areas farther northeast. We hit 83 today and should be at least a couple degrees higher Friday. Next week is looking pretty warm as well. Of course Saturday's rain keeps getting drier on the models. The Euro is down to <0.20". It has been generally pleasant, but with the drought here and pathetic hurricane season it sure has been boring. Let's hope winter is a little more interesting. DAFF
Picture perfect fall weather to me. Lots of sun, cool nights and delightful afternoons. Looking into the future not much change coming for some time. One thing is for sure the apple trees are loaded as well as the cones on the Pines. Wet cool spring and early summer is to thank for that. Wonder how this bounty translates to winter weather ?? Is it natures way of increasing reproduction chances or preparing for a harsh winter ?? Time will tell.
Geos
Hit 47° this morning. Temperature nearing 70° now with sunny skies. GFS showing a general 0.3-0.80" in the next 72 hours.
daddylonglegs
Already above 80F with hurricane winds. Looks like rain on the parade tomorrow. Extended forecast looks amazing... 70Fs and 50Fs... wow. Its still insanely dry here... Only thing saving us has been a ton of morning dew that doesn't burn off until about noon some days. The lawn is actually looking pretty good in spots that aren't dead (lots of those)... mowed yesterday for the first time in ages.
wxman1952
Absolutly great weather the last few days and tomorrow should be as well. But, with all our dry weather the fall colors are looking dull. 75 now and our normal high is
Chicago Storm
MKE updated their page for the Sep 12th waterspouts...Which now includes estimated tracks/times. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/news/display_cmsstory.php?wfo=mkx&storyid=97117&source=
Geos
Peak temp has been 71° so far. Really nice day again. I arrived down at the lake front at about 1:37pm right about when the spout became wrapped up. Still wishing I would have went south to North Point Marina (the bay right below the border). cyclone77
83 today here. Lots of farm equipment out on the highways the last week or so. Always fun getting stuck behind a big combine on the way into work lol. Nice baroclinic zone out in the Plains for the first time this season. Temps in eastern Nebraska are in the upper 80s with howling southerly winds, while out in the western part of the state a cold stratiform rain is falling with temps in the low 40s. Geos
High of 72° today here. Looks like tomorrow should make 80°. Heaviest rain corridor inching west into Chicagoland. 50s showing up in Lake Michigan. I'll have leaves to rake next week for sure.

weatherbo
an absolute beautiful morning... not nearly as chilly as the past week was. sat on the deck, watched the sunrise with a cup of coffee in hand. temp was 48. going to be a beautiful day! Cleaning off the deck and putting away Summer stuff and blowing some leaves. I intend to enjoy the warmth while it's here. October will change the game! Jonger
Looks like Sept will finish as a negative departure at KLAN. That's 6 of 9 months this year and 10 of the last 14 months below normal. Sucks that 2 of the 4 months above normal going back to last August were in meteorological winter.
cyclone77
Strong south winds and sunny skies pumping temps up pretty quickly. Already 72, with 75 at MLI. Should make the 80s before the cold rain arrives by mid-afternoon with the CF.
Geos
Only 59° this morning. Somewhat sunny right now with low 70s. Wind is cutting off the lake again, so not sure 80° is possible or not. Looks like some of us will pick up a decent rain.
cyclone77
Hit 82 before the clouds came in and thickened. Man it's windy out there. Just got done playing softball again and out in the open the winds were gusting over 30mph on a consistent basis.
daddylonglegs
Rain the past hour+... some heavy at times... Just had a strong blast of wind move through...rain should end i would imagine before supper. The Oktoberfest parade got under way but i doubt finished up before the rains moved in... lots and lots of wet drunks i imagine.
Geos
Lol @ wet drunks! Hanging around 77° here. Quite a few leaves blowing around the yard this afternoon.
hawkeye_wx
I love a day like this once in a while. It has been raining for 5 hours, mostly pretty light but with a few bursts mixed in. I have received about 0.30" of needed rain. The front moved through an hour ago and our temp has dropped into the upper 50s. The front shows up very well on radar. daddylonglegs
50Fs here... I was talking to my brother and he was saying there was a lot of drunks still out in the pouring rain... some chick did a face plant on the concrete...that isn't uncommon in La Crosse. Rain about done.

Western Illinois- Home of Iowa's sloppy seconds lol. lol. I know that Ohio posters (buckeye, et al.) sometimes feel that way in the winter with some storms that nail us in Indiana. Enjoyed a summer-like day with light winds and a high of 83.

TugHillMatt
I sure hope so, Geos. We really need the rain here too. A lot of plants wilting...
Geos
I sure hope so, Geos. We really need the rain here too. A lot of plants wilting... Well regarding the plants, a lot of them are well on there way to dormancy. Even the ones I've been watering, they're going starting to fade - like the ferns. Luckily there's been some locally heavy rain in the last few weeks. Next run of the RAP still holding onto the rain. Touched 80° imby today, but that was it. First 80° in 17 days. cyclone77
After warm southerly winds all day, the party's over. Cold front blasted through about a half hour ago sending dews from the mid 60s back into the 50s already. You know it's a dull pattern when you get semi-excited over a meager cold frontal passage with 15kft showers lol.
