is that even a degree?

It's like 0.5°C difference. Still <1°F.

By looking at the color map you posted on the last page, no one area of the lake stands out as being really warm. 70° at the end of the lake is nothing unheard of.

Who knows maybe Alek will get snow at the same time as everyone else in the geographical area.

70 degrees at the southern tip, and in Green Bay is completely normal for this time of year.

I really don't care about all the 3" events I miss out on. Living lakeside is as good as it gets...super comfortable and every few years I get to experience real deal blizzard conditions.

Plus you get some decent LES once in awhile!

Speaking of lake effect, looks like some lake showers tonight.

I'm not saying I add anything more valuable than most on here, but it seems MidwestChaser gets a free pass to do his schtick and criticize everyone just due to his tenure on the board, which essentially just makes this a buddy network.  This is the last I will say, but when nearly half of his posts are just mocking people like Alek, Bowme, myself, etc. it doesn't make a good impression and those members should be allowed to dish it back.

I go after people like you because you whine. All. The. Time.

warm nights will skew things along along with enough above avg days in to early Oct.... Cool shots will be brief and meh in to Oct.  you want a warm fall anyways for the fake effect fluff.

Yep, warm nights always skew things around here, esp in fall, combination of UHI and what Jonger was talking about wrt aerosols being taken out of the environment.  I am almost tempted to believe recent trends are not a fluke, and that November and early December snow events will start becoming a thing of the past.

We still have volcanic SOemissions that act as aerosols. We've had plenty of volcanic activity in the last few years.

Getting some LER (lake effect rain) now, or should I say drizzle.

Keep your climate change nonsense out of here.

This. Look, I understand that there is a huge climate debate going on, but this thread is not the place for it. There is a whole subforum for that.

Looks like I won't get out of the 60's today. Autumn is trying to butt it's way into Northern IN, but looks to be relatively short-lived as WAA ramps up by Wednesday.

As for mid to late week, I do think we do warm back to near maybe even above 80 in many places in the region, I could see a couple shots of storms as well, one with the warm front Wednesday into Thursday and another with the cold front on Friday. I think Friday would be the day where we could have a severe potential as there are pretty strong dynamics with this system.

I mean this in the kindest way possible, but sometimes you should think twice before hitting send. And you're not the only one. It's one thing if it's a newbie but folks who have been on the boards for years should kinda know what types of posts are going to elicit a negative reaction.

this has felt like one of the chillier days so far.  full sun here on the immediate west coast of MI and still hovering in the upper 40's with a breeze. fall is def here.  any warm days from here on out will be welcome imo, since in no time the eternal Autumn/Winter clouds take over.

Your glacier will be back before ya know it! Trees will start turning pretty fast now with these cool night and warm days.

Pond temp. in the backyard fell another degree; now 60°.

for sure, I can already tell a speed up in the turning since the 30's a couple nights ago.  After tonight's 30's and a few warm days it will be sped up even more.

I took this on the 27th of Sept last year from my yard.

You are definitely living at the best location on this forum for weather and scenery, enjoy that. It will probably be another 25 years before I call that area home.

I love it here, and yes it is very beautiful.  I do miss the Spring and Summer severe weather from Indiana. Being so close to the lake, Summer weather is rarely hot but it rarely rains either (at least this year).  Other than that complaint, it's perfect for me here.  Foliage is on another level as well.

I'm amazed at how above normal the lakes are.

How is the water 7 degrees above normal on Lake Michigan with a slightly below the 30 year average YTD temps?

My only guess, sunnier than normal weather.

Tmp.jpg

You sure they are 7F above normal? As you said just doesn't make sense with the temps this year. If anything high temps are running more solidly below normal yjan mean temps, plus after a sunnier than normal 2012 it has most definitely been cloudier than normal in 2013.

With respect to lake temps.... What are the levels taken at?? I can see a great fluctuations at the surface, but the deeper the better consensus of the true heat or cold lake trends.

The days are feeling more like fall, to the fact customers are inquiring about snow already.
