Trent
KDTW year to date is the same as KTTF. KTTF has much more marine influence and is further south. This UHI effect will be more pronounced after 3-4am. 2 Degrees warmer can be the difference between an anual ranking of 30th or 50th warmest year on record... or more. UHI at airport.jpg There's barely any development around DTW compared to many of the other major airports in the US. A couple of sub divisions and farm fields isn't noteworthy compared to industrial parks and gridded street developments elsewhere. What could make a difference is a sea of concrete tarmacs and new runways near a thermometer that might not have been around in the 60s. And on another note, the warmer overnight lows are already built into the climate normals. It should be several degrees colder at FNT than DTW each night. UHI at airport.jpg If you are comparing them to those wooded sites close by, that isn't a good representation of the metro area where people live. I don't think people care how cold it is in the woods. Plus using wunderground with personal stations you are going to end up with errors. I will trust the augmentation of an ASOS site over someone's personal backyard equipment.
beavis1729
Today's low temp of 77 at ORD is a new record high min for Sept. 10. The old record was 75 in 1912. This is also the latest in the season with a min temp of 77 or higher. The previous latest date for a 77+ min temp was 9/7/1922, when the low was 78. Stebo
That looks chilly up by Bo on Friday night. 25-30° Probably overdone, a situation like this would promote lake clouds which would hold the temperatures up some, plus the GFS is usually overaggressive on these cold shots especially the first one of the season. Stebo
Maybe closer to the NAM Hires - Stebo? This is for Friday, I mean I do see chances for 30s up in Northern Lower Michigan for Saturday morning, but I would be very shocked to see places below 35. Powerball
Of course we started off with a solid Altostratus deck, so the temperature rise today is a bit slower than it was yesterday. Temps should begin taking off though now that the Altostratus is sliding off to the east. We SHOULD make it back into the 90s, assuming convection holds off until late and no more high/mid-level cloud cover moves through over the next several hours. cyclone77
Thick debris clouds moving in from Iowa should end up screwing the DVN area of storms/precip once again. Areas to the east look to cash in again though. NWS point has us down to 45 Sat morning.
Geos
Clouds debris is moving in here too. 78°/65° now with a onshore flow.

Geos
Rain is commencing. Nice moderate rain atm. Looks like 81-82° for the high today. ...I noticed today the trees turned quite a bit. Overnight it seems. Probably because of the dryness, partly.
cyclone77
A few sprinkle showers moving across this area. One just passed through here and put a few dots on the sidewalk. Another tiny one heading for MLI. It may be enough to end the rainless streak there, but unfortunately the 0.01-0.05" they may get will just end the streak and nothing more. Geos
Looks like about 0.10" out of this batch of showers this afternoon. Coolish outside at 75°. Cold front looks to push through at about daybreak tomorrow.

Powerball
Absolutely zilch to talk about right now. Both DET and DTW were at 90*F with dewpoints around 70*F. However, latest RAP is still holding on to the possibility of strong/severe t'storms later today, and we're still in the slight risk area.
weatherbo
Friday night APX: TEMPS WILL EASILY FALL INTO THE 30S...WITH SOME LOCALIZED MID TO UPPER 20S CERTAINLY NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION. THUS...FROST DEVELOPMENT LOOKING LIKE A CERTAINTY AT THIS POINT...AND LATER SHIFTS MAY EVEN WANT TO CONSIDER A FREEZE WATCH FOR A FEW INTERIOR COUNTIES.
