What a kooky year of weather. The forecast of 97°F at DTW today would shatter the record high for September 10th, and also be one of the latest 95°F+ days ever at Detroit (the latest was 98°F on September 16th, 1939)

This also would be the hottest day of 2013.

The warmest downtown Cleveland has been able to muster all year is 91 degrees (metar: BKL). For the most part a lake breeze has been able to save us from any oppressive heat this year. The NWS is only pegging the lakeshore to hit 87 today, but I have a feeling that might end up being quite underdone.

I wouldnt say "shatter" the record, but breaking the record of 94F seems likely, as does this being the warmest of the year. This would be just the 12th time since 1887 that the years hottest temp occurred in September, unusual but not unheard of.

If it hits 95F+, it will be the 9th latest 95F temp on record.

Sept 11, 1935- 95F

Sept 12, 1952- 96F

Sept 13, 1874- 97F

Sept 13, 1952- 96F

Sept 14, 1939- 98F

Sept 15, 1927- 95F

Sept 15, 1939- 100F

Sept 16, 1939- 98F

We will be seeing temps go from 15-20F above normal today, Tuesday, to 15-20F below normal Friday. Friday nights low temp will be some 55F colder than todays high temp. Who says September weather is boring?

MLI cooled all the way back to 67 due to considerably drier dews than previous days.  They've jumped 13 degrees in two hours though, so it's off to the races.  Record there today is 95, which should be easy to break.  H8s are a bit cooler today, but the mature heat dome, incoming front, and lower dews should get us back up close to 100.

EDIT:  Make that 18 degrees since 7am.  (3hrs)
