I can't see what MVL will end at...there's bad data in the F-6 climate report...there's one day with an average temp of 99F resulting in a departure of +35 that day and skewing the monthly mean. If that's fixed I bet we'll be a touch below at MVL but MPV and 1V4 should be solidly below normal as their departures are always lower than MVL's.

Should be fixed now ;)

Just had a interesting experience outside walking the dog... some storms ignited as they crossed the Spine and didnt really get going until just east of here. We must've been under a low level inversion with clear/calm until those cumulus passed overhead. Then what was either an outflow boundary or wind caused by evaporational cooling as the young storm just started dropping precip a mile or two east of here, but there were 2 minutes of breezy conditions and the temperature rose from 68F to 76F in the 5 minutes it took the dog to dump. It felt like I would think a heat burst would...all the sudden it is really noticeably hotter than it was 5 minutes ago...but I'm guessing it was just the low level inversion breaking, causing us to spike.

Already it's cooling again, as a few minutes later its down to 73F. It was just weird to feel that 8F spike as the breeze moved through. Now we are calm and falling.

wrong Recent research seems to support the contention that Matthew Maguire, later the secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson, N.J., proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic

Right, that was before the Haymarket massacre (1886), which the real labor holiday commemorates. The Sept holiday was picked by the politicians who feared workers and the labor movement, and wanted to isolate American workers from the international labor movement.

We should all have both days for holidays, but May 1 is the real Labor Day. Monday is just a nice day for beer and burgers.

Yes, I understand that, but "Labor Day" as it came to be, was not rooted in any of that.  It's a diversion. ;)

lol that was fast...yup looks good now. Only -0.5 on the month at MVL after the past few days.

GYX/CAR stations all slightly (0.3F) above avg except for CON, which is +1.3. All 4 places have recorded below avg totals for both heating and cooling DDs, illustrating the rather bland temp regime this month.

Dews of 70 all thruout SNE this morning. Great to end summer with it performing as summer

Great! A nice overcast day with showers possible at anytime in this muck. I'm sure the 90% of people making plans to do things over the holiday weekend much prefer this rather than sunny 78 with low humidity. I guess if it happens to rain a good portion of the time all weekend in Tolland, then that's the way summer SHOULD be...............
