Seems like we get one random day like this almost every August late in the month. Sort of a sign that autumn is approaching...that stiff NE wind and almost "stormy" feel to it. Then we go back to nice days for a while before the first real autumn nor' easter gets us...usually in latter September or first half of October.

Most of you are aware that nearly every large lake in NE is spring fed and perfectly fine for swimming. What type of lakes did you guys swim in?

I think people are more referring to the smaller ones...some of them manmade...but yeah, most larger lakes are totally fine.

They aren't even familiar with lakes or rural feels. Used to tourists, gridlock, and sheetdrizzle in mid summer.

hey...shhhhh...it's ok...it's ok. tolland is fine. not the best weather or most extreme weather, not the warmest place, or the coldest place, not the snowiest, or rainiest, or the windiest...but still a nice average place.

Nope. 70.3F.

I've come close, but late afternoon breaks spiked me from U60s to L70s a couple of times.

Wow, that's kind of flukey.

ORH also did it on 8/14...the strong CAA day. But I figured you prob didn't make it that day anyway.

I can guarantee you'll do it on 9/5 if the Euro is right.

There's some growing support by the ensembles for that..doubtful it ends up as extreme as the OP run, but it doesn't need to be in order for it to be a very chilly airmass.
